Spring has officially arrived at Red Rock Pistachio Orchard 🌱
We’re starting to see fresh growth on all 2,500 of our pistachio trees!

Pictured here is one of our male trees - he doesn’t grow nuts, but he plays a huge role by producing the pollen that helps our female trees do what they do best.

Nature doing its thing… and we love to see it!

Weird & Interesting Pistachio Facts:

• Pistachios are technically a fruit, not a nut. The edible part is the seed inside the fruit.

• Pistachios are one of the lowest-calorie nuts, which means you can snack a little more guilt-free.

• They’re sometimes called the “skinny nut” because they have fewer calories and more protein than many other nuts.

• Pistachios naturally contain melatonin, which may help support better sleep. A small handful in the evening can actually help your body wind down.

• The shells often split open naturally on the tree when the nut is ripe. Farmers actually use that as a sign they’re ready to harvest.

• Pistachios contain more potassium than many nuts, even comparable to some fruits.

• Studies show people who eat pistachios often feel fuller longer, which may help with healthy weight management.

• Pistachios are sometimes called “the smiling nut” in parts of the Middle East because the shell looks like a smile when it opens.

Such a gorgeous day here at the orchard. The trees are winding down for the season, but the pistachios are still a perfect, feel-good snack as everyone keeps working toward their New Year goals.

Fun fact: pistachios are packed with protein, fiber, and healthy fats, which help keep you full longer and support heart health. They’re also one of the lowest-calorie nuts per serving, making them a great choice for mindful snacking.

Nothing better than enjoying something healthy while soaking in a beautiful Southern Utah day.
