Books give us the chance to encounter lives, ideas, histories, and experiences beyond our own.

During Banned Books Week, we celebrate the freedom to question, to discover, and to decide for ourselves what belongs on our bookshelves.

So, jump on the BANNED WAGON, where we honor our freedom to write, freedom to read.

Tonight at 5 p.m., Minnesota award-winning author Marcie Rendon is coming to the Hutchinson Public Library - MN, for an author presentation, Q&A, and book signing!

Rendon is the author of the acclaimed Cash Blackbear Mystery series and Where They Last Saw Her, the 2025 Minnesota Book Award winner for genre fiction.

We’ll have a table stocked with Rendon’s titles, ready for you to purchase and get signed.

Good news. We’ve narrowed it down for you.

We already know bookstores are dangerous territory. It’s almost impossible to walk into one without walking out with at least one new title.

But what’s another store that gets you every time?

A clothing store? Craft store? Home goods? Hardware? Somewhere you walk in “just to look” and somehow end up at the register?
