🌸 ¡Feliz Día de la Independencia!

Today, as Mexico celebrates its Independence Day, we're celebrating a piece of the heritage behind Heritage Bloom.

We are proudly American, and we're also incredibly proud to be part of an immigrant family whose story began before us and continues through the generations. Our Mexican roots are part of the traditions, family, and love of making that helped shape who we are today—and we're proud that Heritage Bloom is a Latina-owned and women-owned small business. ❤️🤍💚

We also want our shop to be a place where our whole community feels comfortable walking through the door.

If Spanish is your preferred language, Michelle and Jaqui speak Spanish and may be able to assist you when they're in the shop. Noelle isn't fluent, but she'll certainly try! She is also conversational in ASL and is always happy for a chance to dust off those skills and get some practice in. 🤟

Heritage Bloom was built around the idea of passing things from one generation to the next—skills, stories, traditions, and a love of creating. Our heritage is part of that story, and we're proud to share a little piece of it with all of you today.

💙 THE CABINETS HAVE COLOR! 💙

And let's just say... there was a little trial and error involved. 😂

We knew we wanted the front cabinets to be a beautiful shade of blue.

What we did NOT want was...
⚡️ ELECTRIC BLUE. ⚡️

There may have been a brief moment when we looked at the cabinets and thought, Oh no. What have we done?! 😂

Thankfully, after a little course correction, we found the blue we were actually imagining—and we are IN LOVE. 😍

Between the freshly painted cabinets, furniture making its way into the shop, and our new cutting table coming together, we're finally getting to the stage where we're adding personality instead of just tearing things apart.
And THAT is a very exciting place to be. 🌸🧵

🌸✂️ WE HAVE A CUTTING TABLE!! ✂️🌸

And, of course, we couldn't just go out and buy one. Where's the fun in that? 😂

Our resident builder—Michelle's husband, Mauro—took an old buffet and turned it into the cutting table that's going to sit right in the heart of Heritage Bloom. 🥹

Getting there involved a few trips to the hardware store, some problem solving, and even a trip to the pawn shop where Mauro scored an old router to get the job done. Because apparently opening a fiber shop also means acquiring power tools now. 😂

All she needs is a little paint, and she'll be ready for her new life!

We LOVE that we're able to give an old piece of furniture a second life instead of buying something brand new. Pretty soon, this table will be where we cut your fabric, help plan projects, and probably have more than a few conversations with all of you. 🧵💙

Mauro, we may have volunteered you for this job... but you knocked it out of the park. 🌸

🌸 **Y’all… it’s starting to feel like a REAL SHOP!** 🥹🧵

For months, Heritage Bloom has been plans, paint samples, construction dust, measurements, boxes, and a whole lot of imagination.

But this weekend we walked in and something felt different.

Most of the shelves are officially stained. 🙌
The main furniture has moved in. 🪑
And we finally have a game plan for our cutting table! ✂️

For the first time, we could really stand back and picture it:

🧵 Fabric filling the shelves
🧶 Yarn tucked into all those little spaces
🪡 Notions & embroidery goodies finding their homes
✂️ Projects spread across the cutting table
🌸 And all of YOU wandering around Heritage Bloom!

There's still plenty to do (our to-do list would like to remind us of that 😂), but we're getting there.

🧵🌸 Heritage Bloom family—we need your input!

We're looking at another possible service for the shop, but before we make the investment, we want to know: Would YOU use it? 👀

We're considering offering large-format PDF pattern printing right here at Heritage Bloom!
If you've ever purchased a PDF sewing pattern, you know the struggle—printing 30+ pages at home, making sure everything is scaled correctly, trimming the edges, and then taping your giant paper puzzle together. 😂

With large-format printing, you could send us your PDF pattern and have it printed on full-size pattern sheets instead. No taping required! 🙌
But the equipment would be an investment for our little shop, so we want to hear from our local sewing community before we take the plunge.

🪡 Would you use a PDF pattern printing service at Heritage Bloom?�💬 How often do you purchase PDF patterns?�📄 And if you currently have them printed somewhere else, what do you typically pay?

Fabric and yarn may get all the attention, but we all know the right tools can make or break a project! 😂

As we're putting together our opening inventory, we want to make sure we're stocking the sewing, quilting, embroidery, crochet, and knitting tools that you actually use—not just what we think you want.

🎉🌸 WE PASSED INSPECTION!! 🌸🎉

Another BIG box officially checked off the Heritage Bloom to-do list! ✅

It may not be as pretty as new wallpaper, shelves full of fabric, or our new light fixtures, but this is one of those behind-the-scenes milestones that gets us one HUGE step closer to opening our doors! 🥹

There has been a whole lot of paperwork, construction, measuring, fixing, waiting, and crossing our fingers happening behind the scenes... so today, we're celebrating this win! 🙌

Now it's back to painting, staining, building, organizing, ordering inventory, and approximately 9,472 other things on the list. 😂🧵🔨

But for today...
WE PASSED! 🎉

🧵🌸 **THE FABRIC IS COMING!** 🌸🧵

Today was a BIG Heritage Bloom day! We met with our **Riley Blake Designs rep** and made some major headway on our very first fabric inventory order! 😍

We've spent months talking about what we want to carry, researching collections, planning our shelves, and trying to create a selection that feels like *Heritage Bloom*—and now we're finally getting to ORDER it!

We absolutely love Riley Blake's beautiful, cheerful style, and we especially love supporting another **family-owned business**. It feels like such a wonderful fit for what we're building. 💙

And while this is a HUGE step, it's only the beginning! We still have lots more fabric, yarn, embroidery supplies, notions, and other goodies to order before opening day.

But pretty soon, those empty shelves we've been showing you are actually going to have **FABRIC ON THEM!** 🥹🧵

We cannot WAIT for you to see what we picked!
