Position Summary
Midwest Industries is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Continuous Improvement Technician to support manufacturing operations by identifying opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and standard work.
This position will work closely with Operations, Engineering, and other departments to evaluate current processes, collect and analyze data, document procedures, and help implement sustainable process improvements.
Qualifications Preferred candidates will have:
• Associate degree or technical training in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent manufacturing/process improvement experience.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing, continuous improvement, process improvement, engineering support, or similar technical role preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, including the ability to organize, analyze, and clearly present information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with production employees, leadership, and engineering.
• Ability to understand manufacturing processes, work instructions, drawings, and production requirements.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and follow projects through completion.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Standard Work, Kaizen, root-cause analysis, or other continuous improvement methods is highly preferred.
• Experience conducting time studies, process observations, or workflow analysis is preferred.
• Experience with an ERP system such as INFOR is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, housekeeping, and reliable attendance.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with Production and Engineering to identify and implement opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and workflow.
• Conduct time studies and process observations to identify waste, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
• Collect, organize, and analyze production and process data to support improvement decisions.
• Assist with root-cause analysis and problem-solving activities related to production processes.
• Develop, document, maintain, and audit standard work procedures and work instructions.
• Support implementation and follow-up of continuous improvement projects to ensure improvements are sustained.
• Create and maintain labels, signage, technical communications, and other production documentation.
• Provide technical support for the Packaging/Kitting Department scale system.
• Maintain and update applicable information within the INFOR ERP system.
• Work directly with employees and supervisors to understand current processes and develop practical improvements.
• Support other Continuous Improvement and operational projects as assigned.
