With spring right around the corner now is a great time to do the annual maintenance check on your washer. Maintaining your washing machine is essential for ensuring its longevity, efficiency, and the cleanliness of your laundry. Here are some key maintenance tips to keep your washer in optimal condition:

1. Use the Correct Detergent and Avoid Overloading

Always use high-efficiency (HE) detergents designed for front-load washers to prevent excessive suds, which can lead to residue buildup. Additionally, avoid overloading the machine, as this can strain the motor and reduce cleaning efficiency.

2. Clean the Door Gasket Regularly

The rubber seal around the door, known as the gasket, can accumulate detergent residue and moisture, creating a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Wipe it down with a mixture of hot water and a low-sudsing cleaning solution after each use to prevent buildup.

3. Leave the Door Open Between Loads

After completing a wash cycle, leave the washer door ajar to allow the interior to dry out. This practice helps prevent the development of unpleasant odors and mold growth inside the drum.

4. Run Regular Cleaning Cycles
