Riding on my very first chairlift at the Brighton ski resort going up crest six. It is literally the most breathtaking experience I’ve ever had!
If you’re ever in Salt Lake City area, you must do this! We stopped at the top and took some amazing photos of the view.
Did I mention it’s my favorite thing to do ever now?

A year of painting can change a lot.

I painted the first sourdough still life in May 2025- the very beginning of my watercolor journey. At the time, I was proud of it — and I still am. It represents exactly where I was as an artist then.

One year later, I returned to a very similar subject.

Same artist. Same love of watercolor. Same fascination with a beautiful loaf of sourdough. But a whole lot of hours spent painting in between.

When I put these two side by side, I can see changes in the way I understand light, shadows, color, texture, edges and especially the confidence of my brushwork.

Sometimes growth is so gradual that you don’t notice it while it’s happening. Then you look back, and there it is.

May 2025 → June 2026.

Keep painting. Keep making the thing. Those hours add up. 🤎

From the Porch is finally finished! Fresh sourdough, hot coffee, homemade butter, blooming flowers, and a peaceful country view—the kind of morning that reminds us to slow down and savor the simple gifts.

This album was written for our daughter Bethany. She teaches first grade and when her class is doing art, Bethany puts instrumental music on while they work. There are some flowers that seem almost impossible to paint… and hydrangeas are definitely one of them. 💙

Hundreds of tiny petals, subtle shifts in color, and soft layers of light make them both a joy and a challenge. I wanted this painting to capture that feeling of a hydrangea blooming quietly on a summer morning.

This reel shares the journey from the first pencil lines to the finished watercolor. Thank you for following along, encouraging my work, and making it possible for me to keep creating.
