Life goes fast. It's hard to always appreciate what you've got when your running full speed ahead. Sometimes you got to stop and smell the roses so to speak to appreciate what you have.
This stack of Xbox 360s isn't much to most gamestores or even collectors for that matter. However, if I take a pause and think about what life was like when these were new, I can feel something completely different.
When the xbox 360 came out I was around 9/10 years old. My family was poor and I knew it was going to be a long time before a 360 got handed down to me or we got lucky at a yard sale.
I remember standing in the grocery stores reading all the game magazines, that I also couldn't afford, dreaming of playing Dead rising and Gears of war. To say I was excited for the future of gaming would be an understatement.
One Christmas a few years Into the 360/ps3 generation I was surprised by my parents with a used xbox 360! I couldn't believe it! They had put it on layaway over the summer and made payments for months. It was the "arcade" model so it didn't come with a hard drive or games. I was going to have to find a way to get those myself. I traded in every original xbox game I had besides halo 2 to get enough credit for Dead rising and gears of war from the gamestop at the mall. Back when the mall was still cool too.
It took most of my ps2 games to get the basic 20gig hard drive but I knew, from years of not having a memory card for my ps1 games, I needed the hard drive and sacrificing my games would be worth it.
That console was almost everything I had. So, to sit here today with a wall full of xbox 360 consoles (this isn't all I have either) is something that 10year old me would have never thought is possible. It's something I should appreciate and acknowledge as a special opportunity.
