Well it’s been a super long time with no posts from me, sorry! Let’s see, I finished chemo, and had a hard time figuring out what type of procedure to do, waited for what felt like an eternity in Limbo, and then had my surgery scheduled for a month. Anticipation was the worst. My surgery was scheduled on April 9th, and today I am a week out, and recovering. I had a bilateral mastectomy with a small type of reconstruction.
Today I got news that my Mastectomy surgery pathology reports came back with Clear Margins! That means they got all the cancer!! 🎉 🥳 🙌🏻 They didn’t find any cancerous tissue in my left side, but on the right, apart from the tumor they went in for- they actually found a few spots of DCIS in situ, meaning some early stage breast cancer that could have turned into aggressive cancer had we not performed the surgery. But it’s a day for celebration. Tomorrow I will go meet with my oncologist to discuss the plans for the rest of my treatment, with immunotherapy and what else we can do to prevent this from coming back.
I also had a post-op appointment today with my plastic surgeon and she removed 1 of my drains. It felt so crazy coming out, there was like 6-8 inches of tubing inside my body. What a relief to get that out. 😅 and I am healing pretty well for being 1 week out. Just need to remember to take it easy. 😛💕
