🌞Know Before You Go: The District – Downtown Independence's Common Consumption Area! 🍹🚶‍♀️🎶

With warmer weather here and more outdoor events, live music, shopping, and community activities happening throughout Downtown Independence, now is a great time for a quick refresher on the rules of "The District"—our Common Consumption Area!

✅ DO:
• Purchase your beverage ONLY from a participating District Serving Business
• Make sure your beverage is in a District-approved cup provided by that business
• Stay within The District boundaries
• Enjoy our downtown responsibly

❌ DON'T:
• Bring your own alcohol into The District
• Refill or use your own cup
• Take alcoholic beverages outside The District boundaries
• Carry beverages into another licensed establishment

🕘 District Hours:
Monday–Saturday | 9:00 AM – 2:00 AM

Join us in Downtown Independence on Friday, June 12, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM for another great evening of classic cars, cool rides, and live music!

🍅🥕 Attention Kansas Seniors! 🍯🌽

Did you know you may qualify for $50 in benefits to purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables, fresh-cut herbs, and honey at participating farmers markets?

The Kansas Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (KSFMNP) is now accepting applications through the Independence Public Library. Benefits are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t wait!

✅ Must be age 60+ (or 55+ and a member of an Indian Tribal Organization)
✅ Must meet income eligibility requirements

📍 Apply in person at the Independence Public Library
🕙 Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
📅 Benefits available June 1 – November 1, 2026

Fresh, local food not only supports our farmers but can also help improve overall health and wellness.
