Living with Cancer means doctor's visits instead of play dates, IV's rather than jungle gyms. Every day, children battle through the physical pain and consequences of the disease while the fear of tomorrow remains unknown. Going beyond traditional support groups and interactive meetings, our getaways and gatherings help provide a mental, physical and emotio

nal release from cancer, giving kids the opportunity to just be kids. Family Programs & Services

Treatment Center Allotment Fund: A large portion of funds raised by Candlelighters of Brevard is provided to our families to pay for the exorbitant costs of food, gas, tolls and transportation to and from out of county cancer centers & hospitals during crucial treatments times. Home Away from Home: Family members are able to remain close to their loved ones during hospital stays at Ronald McDonald Houses or similar facilities at no cost to the family. When families stay closer, kids heal faster. Utility Assistance Program: This program is designed to help pay utility bills. Prescription Drug Program: Families are reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses for prescription medication for the child with cancer as well as antibiotics occasionally required for their siblings. Angel Car Care Program: Repair services and automotive parts are provided to our families who travel many miles seeking answers and treatment for their children. This program was founded by the Nelson Family, Coastal Mitsubishi/Hyundai and Cocoa Hyundai. Coastal Mitsubishi/Hyundai and Cocoa Hyundai Dealers. Christina Harker Memorial Counseling Services: Counseling sessions with licensed therapists are offered to all family members to work through the many issues associated with childhood cancer. Angel Fund: A one-time financial donation is given to families who have suffered the agonizing loss of a child. Rebecca Wolfe Memorial Fund: In memory of the children who lose their battle to cancer, a native Florida tree is donated and planted on the first anniversary of their passing. Platinum Coast Orchid Society "Get You There" Program : Providing pre-paid gas cards to help alleviate the costs of out of county trips. This program is sponsored in part by the Platinum Coast Orchid Society. In addition, Candlelighters was the recipient of a $2,000 Grant from the Margaret Binz Foundation to purchase additional gas cards through Platt Hopwood Attorneys at Law PLLC.
