Have you ever heard of a house hippo? 🦛

A commercial aired in 1999 to Canadian children with the purpose of teaching children critical thinking skills in analyzing what they saw on TV... the commercial featured a tiny hippo coming out at night, foraging for food and doing other activities around the house!

Affectionally name the ‘house hippo’, it’s now come to symbolize protection and good luck in a house, and versions of house hippos are searched for by thrifters everywhere.

That’s how long this blanket has been sitting in my brain.
Always too hard, too advanced, couldn’t figure it out..

While this is a gift to another, it’s also a gift to myself by showcasing how far I’ve come in teaching myself to crochet.
