Katara McCarty is doing exactly that.
As the Founder & CEO of Exhale, an award-winning mental well-being app, Katara uses technology to expand access to culturally grounded care for Black women. She’s also the Founder of Exhale Cares, a nonprofit advancing mental health equity through research, education and advocacy.
Her work has earned national recognition, including a Webby Award and first place in the 2024 NBA Foundation All-Star Pitch Competition. She’s also an MIT Solve Fellow, Rock Health Fellow and inaugural Highland Project Leader.
At the heart of her work is a simple but powerful idea: start with the people whose needs have been overlooked, and build solutions that can serve us all.
