Diary of a small business: The Failures
Failures look different for everyone. Failures can be not only financial but also physical and mental.
For example this past weekend I drove halfway to my market to realize it was not gonna happen. Rained out and loss of $60 vender fee. Then later to try and see if I could recoup a loss paid $30 to be a part of a dance battle. Sold 3 items $15 so total financial loss $75
See these bags here those are bags of bathbomb dust. Basically bathbombs that crumbled and fell apart. That’s physical failure.
I had quite a bit of failure last week and that definitely weighed on me mentally. Things I said to myself “You’re such a failure.” “Should just give it up.” “Nothings working anymore.”
Other businesses are going through the same thing. Markets aren’t like they were last year. Every time a business puts themselves out there they are taking a risk. There will be failures and it will knock them down. But sometimes those failures lead to better things.
I might have had several failures last week but these hands have made some incredible products that I love, you love and bring joy to others that we love. These hands aren’t done yet. They will keep going and building this business one failure at a time because is it really a failure if you learned something valuable from it.
