Burnout sneaks up on you like a tickle in the back of your throat before you’re slammed by the flu.
A little more exhaustion, a little less patience, a little harder to care. All very easy to ignore.
You tell yourself you just need a weekend, a day off, one good night of sleep. But burnout doesn’t usually arrive all at once. It builds quietly in the background while you keep pushing through, until one day your mind and body force you to notice what you’ve been trying to outrun.
The key to prevention or early detection is frequent self checkins and rest.
You are not lazy, you need rest. You are not on edge, you need rest. You are not moody, you need rest. Without rest, our bodies and brains never have the chance to restore themselves.
