About Under the Glaze and it’s owners
Under the Glaze is the brainchild of Marlina Koonce and Amber McKibbin, Indiana artisans who create unique ceramic pieces that are functional works of art. They have been fast friends since their freshman year at Herron School of Art and Design. Since graduation, these artists have been busy collaborating in the classroom and studio, often discussing opening u

p a business of their own. So they finally made their plans official and hope you enjoy their special creations. Amber is greatly influenced by rich textiles, ornate patterns and henna designs in her work. By carving and using a slip trailer, she creates beautiful three-dimensional designs on her work, accented by underglaze painting and various glazes. Marlina is also influenced by textiles and attributes much of her inspiration to her grandmother, a retired clothing designer and seamstress. She creates her work by rolling fabric and lace in her clay resulting in gorgeous texture. Marlina is also a lover of buttons and will often use them as accents.

Our favorite time of the art fair season is here! Crisp cool mornings, bright beautiful sunshine, and amazing people at the !! It’s our biggest fair of our season and we have been working hard to make sure our shelves our stocked with everyone’s favorite mugs, our new mugs, and lovely . If you are in the Louisville area - come visit us Friday - Sunday at booth -737 on Fourth Street! Can’t wait to see you!
