Here are the new releases of graphic novels, manga, and magazines just in time for pride month! Starting off strong, the beginning of Matt Fraction's Batman run is getting its first volume, so now is the perfect time to check out this amazing ongoing series. Inspired by the upcoming movie, Supergirl The World is an anthology graphic novel that features eight unique stories each set in a different country infused with the unique artistic and cultural flavor of that region. It is a global, emotionally resonant exploration of Supergirl's legacy! A classic Superman Elseworlds story is getting a DC Compact version as well. Superman Red Son follows Superman as his rocket lands in the USSR, so as the world teeters on the edge of a different kind of Cold War, Superman faces off against reimagined versions of Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, Batman, and more in a sharp political thriller that tests the very nature of heroism. For fans of historical graphic novels, We Are Pan is based on the true story of Operación Pedro Pan, a joint effort between the U.S. government and the Catholic Welfare Bureau to evacuate 14,000 children from Cuba to the U.S. between 1960 and 1962. These children (later referred to as “Pedro Pans”) would be distributed across the U.S., living in foster homes with many never seeing their families again. For literature fans, Virginia Woolf: The Graphic Novel explores Woolf's creative brilliance and her passionate, complicated relationship with Vita Sackville-West. It is a q***r retelling that draws from Woolf's novel and the pair's letters to try to capture the intensity of Woolf's inner world. Finally, Billy Bat Vol 1 follows Kevin Yamagata, a Japanese American cartoonist, who lives in 1949 Los Angeles. Kevin soon realizes he may have unknowingly copied his iconic character from an image he once saw in Japan. To discover the truth, Kevin returns to Japan where he learns that the image t resurfaces again and again throughout history often tied to moments of upheaval and violence.
