This Shelfie Sunday, John is giving us an intro to one of his favorite runs:
"Hello!
"If you have read Doom Patrol, chances are you have read Grant Morrison's reboot on DC Black Label. As essential as those 3 volumes are, you need to read Rachel Pollack's continuation of the story on DC Vertigo. At Daydreams, we have both the large compilation and a nearly complete run in back issues. The late Ms. Pollack was somewhat underappreciated at the time, and her funny, violent, and emotional take on the characters resonantes today, especially the relationship between Cliff (robot man) and Dorothy (the Chief's daughter).
"The real love between these two keeps the readers coming back. Here at Daydreams we also have a 2-volume DC Finest collection of the original Arnold Drake stories. The current run of this book is in its infancy, but is very promising. Thank you."
No, thank YOU John for this write-up! This book is great.

For all of September, eden tracked every comic they read and set them in a designated space.

every. single. one.

And this is that stack! As you can see, they went heavy on romance in September and didn't really touch any US comics at all. Lots of action, some humor, and boatloads of kissing.

What did you read this last month?

For this back issue dive, I went through the indie boxes and just grabbed a cool cover. THE ERADICATORS, issue 3 of 4. Could I tell you anything about it? No! I flipped through the book and the story was incomprehensible. But look at that cover! I just love 80s indie explosion stuff.

This week's staff picks!

Nathan: Amazing Spider-Man 1000! He specifically picked that Erik Larsen cover, so no, you can't have that one, but there are plenty of other covers!
Jailene: Alien vs. X-Men 1! Why is this one the singular "Alien" when the vs. Avengers book was "Aliens"? Read to find out!
John: Poison Ivy 48! Bad Seeds continues and things are getting bad in Gotham City!
Robert: Zatanna 6! The first arc is wrapping up and seems like it'll be a bang!
eden: Hello Kitty & Friends 2! Look at Kuromi on the cover of that thing.
Jackson: Peepshow! He's been excited about this release for months!

All that and more, at your friendly local comic shop!

It's National Coffee Day! Snuggle up with a mug and check out what releases tomorrow!

Adventure Time has a Halloween special! I bet it's a delight. Any time you get to read about Jack the Dog is a Adventure Time has a Halloween special! I bet it's a delight. Any time you get to read about Jack the Dog is a .
DNX issue 2 continues the colossal crossover event!
Geiger hits a milestone issue: number 25! He still looks like a ripoff Dr. Phosphorus but the comic's entertaining anyways.
Hello Kitty and Friends say Hello Issue Two! You know you want to read this delightful issue...
Queen in Black issue 5 is out! Another crossover! The conclusion! Everything's come down to this! If you read issue 4, you're eager to see what happens next!
Amazing Spider-Man issue 1000! That's crazy to think they've made 1000 issues of Amazing Spider-Man. And this is one of them! It's triple-sized! It's got a Peach Momoko drawn story! That's worth it for that alone!
Amazing Venom kicks off a story that's not even about Venom! it's actually Boomerang! You know Boomerang? The Spider-Man villain? Well he tried to go straight but then ended up bonded with a symbiote named Passenger! And now they're busy fighting crime and calling themselves Comeback! So why is the book named Absolute Venom? It ain't that kinda book, kid, don't worry about it.
Wonder Woman 2026 Annual is also here! It's all about the Matriarch! My quibbles about the book aside, the design of the character is great.

All this and more, this week!

This Manga Monday we highlight More than a Married Couple, but Nor Lovers! It's a rom-com with a ridiculous premise: two students, in love with other people, are forced to pretend to be married for a class assignment! And, of course, romantic complications ensue.
With a stunning art style and plenty of laughs and gasps, it's a real winner!

For this Shelfie Sunday, Jailene tells us all about Crisis on Infinite Earths!
"I started this year reading Crisis, an insane pick for someone who is finally diving into adult comics. I picked it up because I remember every time I asked a question about a character my dad would say 'well before the first crisis...' I picked it up expecting to be lost and confused the whole time, but honestly it was a lot easier to follow than I expected.
"I love crossovers, and trust me Crisis has them: the JLA and JSA meet. Jay Garrick and the other Earth 1 heroes meet everyone from Earth 2. There’s probably a hundred other little moments I could mention. There are so many iconic moments and team ups that set the stage for a lot of future events. Crisis pushed the boundaries for what writers could do with these iconic characters.
"Also if not for what happens during Crisis, Barry Allen would probably still have a pretty bland personality. (sorry not sorry)
"Not only that but Headband Supergirl is there! The Supergirl & Batgirl relationship is such a strong representation of 'friendship' that it’s something that stands out to me the most, and it’s a relationship that we haven’t seen with the characters since. It’s the reason why I will probably reread in a week or two instead of diving into my TBR pile."
