You will hook, sew and proddy your way through this fun whimsical Turkey for your fall decorations. Set him on a shelf, put him in a wreath or in a big bowl of mini pumpkins, he doesn’t care just as long as you show him some love! Everything is included except a needle and thread and a glue gun. All your wool is pre cut to size and we even cut the tiny 1/4 inch circle and include the tiny buttons for his eyes. You will need a hook and the frame for the hooking parts and a needle and thread to sew the standing wool, his wattle, beak and feet. You can use a hook to pull the petals through but we really recommend a proddy tool like our pullers.
Finished size 8.5x12.5! We tried him out on the side of my big market basket and he was adorable! This is a fast easy project that even a new ho**er can tackle and learn some new techniques and the experienced ho**er will enjoy this easy quick project. The same wool is used in all thre techniques on our newest Flattie. It’s cut in an #8.5 for the body and base and then there are pre cut petals and a super wide #10 for the standing wool in the kit. Learn traditional rug hooking or Oxford punching in a small-group class designed for beginners.

The details:
WHERE? At our shop, Searsport Rug Hooking located at 1751 Kennerly road, Irmo, Sc
WHEN? Saturdays from 11-2
HOW MUCH? $55.00
HOW? Sign up on our website for the date that works for you.
WHAT TO BRING? Nothing! We will have everything ready for you! You need nothing!
We will have everything ready in the classroom. You will pick your wools and learn to properly cut with our cutters. With everyone choosing their own colors no two projects are ever the same! This is unto you!
Over the three hours (11 AM–2 PM), you'll learn the basic fundamentals of traditional rug hooking or Oxford Punching while creating two practice mug rugs—one using straight stitches, one featuring curves.
All instruction, use of equipment (hooks, frames, scissors), and materials are included.
You will choose wool fabric strips or rug-weight yarn to match your preference as you work, from the rainbow pile of wool and yarns on the tables.
Most students find Oxford punching faster and more intuitive, while traditional rug hooking offers a rewarding classic approach. Both methods produce similar finished pieces, and you'll have hands-on time with both to discover what works best for you. They can be mixed in the same pice with hardly any difference in appearance.
These are learning pieces—designed to build confidence and technique before you move on to larger projects like stair treads and room-sized rugs LOL.
So pick a date that works, sign up online or by phone, and bring a friend.
Class size is intentionally small and held in our upstairs classroom. But we know stairs can be an issue, so we have a nice classroom area down stairs if the need arises! So no excuses come join the fun!
Your welcome to bring lunch or snacks and beverages are provided.
If you can't attend, you can reschedule to the next available session at no penalty.

Fun day here!! Ups just brought the wool, truck load of 64 inch linen, 102 wide will be in stock in a few weeks! and Neil’s dad is here for a few weeks from PA! We will see you live tonight at 5 pm with the 31 new wools and then right after that we have a private class here at the shop for a fun group of ladies! They are all making spindle trees! Want to learn to Rug Hook? Or Oxford Punch? Or Mini Punch? Come join us on a Saturday and try your hand at them! The class fee includes your beginner project and use of all our equipment! You only need to bring a smile and ready to learn! The classes are all from 11-2 and on Saturdays. The dates are on each class on the website and you just pick the one that works for you! We will be adding more as these fill. Class sizes are kept small so you have the best hands on help.
