Some may recognize these pieces and some may not. Darlene Strand has been a long time advocate for the arts in the community as well as an artist. As one of the Borderland Arts founders we are grateful to have her work showcased in the IMAGINE: Summer of Love Show. Thank you for paving a way and your continued support in the arts Darlene.

💜In honor of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). Third Thursday of October which happens to be today, October 15th. This piece by Sarah Somma Langlais depicts just that. Her multimedia piece with actual string stirs something visceral in the viewer.

In her own words, “Needing to break long-term silence, recovery of a suppressed personal voice, or being unable to escape or talk about emotional or physical or sexually controlling abuse.”

When Art Aura Emerged this spring - the whole intention was to have work from the community that came from the heart. Artwork that was created as a mode to heal the artist first and then to be shared. A true act of bravery. Creating and telling your story of the human condition not only in the happy times and the beauty we notice but also the tumultuous times. Art as therapy gives a person a channel to express and a place for those big emotions to land outside of the body.

Thank you for being brave enough to share and support.
