PLEASE READ BEFORE SELLING YOUR GOLD OR SILVER!

With traveling gold and silver buyers coming to town Friday, I wanted to remind everyone that not all gold and silver should be sold for scrap or melt value!

Certain antique, vintage, designer, and collectible pieces can be worth considerably more than their precious-metal content alone.

At The Department Store, I’m interested in purchasing select sterling silver and gold items, and depending on the pieces, I may be able to offer you more than you would receive from a traveling buyer.

I also recognize that some items, particularly antique sterling bowls, serving pieces, and collectible jewelry, may be worth significantly more to collectors. For those pieces, I may be able to help you sell them on consignment rather than lose that additional value by selling them for melt.

I can’t promise to purchase everything, and my buying capacity is limited, but I’m happy to consider what you have.

A little update from The Department Store ❤️

Right now, we are still somewhat in limbo.

As of today, the only thing we can say for certain is what our landlord has told us about our space. He told us that financing for the additional heating work was unsuccessful and that he wants The Department Store moved out before the cold months.

We still have not been given a firm date by which we need to be out.

We also do not know what, if anything, this means for the rest of the building or the other spaces in it. We can only speak to what we have been told about The Department Store, and we do not want to speculate beyond that.

So for now, we are still here, still open, and doing our best to keep operating normally while we figure out what comes next.

We also want to make sure the people who have supported us are able to use the rewards they’ve earned.

We have exactly 63 punch cards left, and once those are gone, we will not be making any more.

From now until we close, qualifying purchases will receive DOUBLE PUNCHES.

If you already have a punch card, you have a choice:

❤️ If you’d rather use what you have now, we will honor each punch as $1 off your purchase.

❤️ If you’re close to your full $10 reward—or you shop with us often—you are welcome to keep your card and continue earning. With double punches, you may get there pretty quickly.

We know some of you stop in every week and some of you only make it here once or twice a year, so we want to make this work in whatever way is most useful to you.

If you have a Department Store gift card, please come use that too while the store is still operating normally and before we eventually have to start substantially changing the storefront and inventory.

For now, we are doing our best with the information we have, and we will keep everyone updated as soon as we actually know more.
