Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a happy Monday! Sorry I haven't been showing many crafts lately! With work picking up, long hours, there's not much time to craft. But one thing I still do is cook everyday!
Tonight we are having cheese tortellini with red sauce! I got so excited to see the tortellini noodles in the freezer, woohoo quick dinner oh yea!
I got the water boiling, the sauce going, and go to the oven to preheat it for garlic bread....checked both freezers, no garlic bread. I didn't realize we were out π¬π€¦πΌββοΈ DOH! Ever had that happen? Well I have a delicious easy way of making your own at home!
Got bread?
Any kind ot doesn't matter. My favorite to use is ciabatta bread, but who ever has that laying around? π So off to the bread drawer to see what I have on deck. Hot dog buns! Perfect! They'll pass for bread sticks and nobody will ever know! Ha!
Preheat oven to 375Β°
Here's the topping. It is really good. Depending on how many pieces you make will determine how much you will need to mix together. Bear with me here bc I normally don't measure, so I'm guesstimating for y'all. π
About 1/3 cup of butter, softened, NOT melted. If it's too melty, you won't get the paste consistency we are going for. I use sq**rt DUKES MAYO, and I added in about 2 big sq**rts.
(If you're not using real mayo, I feel bad for you son, I'm not sure what would happen using that other stuff-miracle whip π€’)
Less mayo than butter, but enough to mix and be smooth and creamy(probably 2-3 tablespoons). Then I took my tube of garlic paste(found at Aldi) and put a hefty teaspoon of that, and a good shake of garlic powder(measure with your heart), and about a tablespoon of italian seasonings. (You can use minced garlic, chopped garlic cloves, garlic powder or salt, whatever you have on hand. I do not discriminate against garlic! π)
Mix that all together mashing with a fork. I normally smell it to see if there's enough flavors going on. If so, next step!
Next take a spatula and shmear that paste-y goodness across them buns. Don't be stingy, lay it on somewhat thick.
Put them on a sprayed pan, shmeared side up. Once you notice the bottoms getting a little brown and crunchy, time to flip! Cook paste side down until it looks toasted and done to your liking. I had to keep checking on mine. These do take about 15 minutes to cook, so don't be impatient! But always keep an eye on them, bc I don't remember the exact time.
Once a little crunchy and toasted, this is the best!
I hope you guys try this sometime! Even if you just want homemade garlic bread, plan this recipe one night on ciabatta bread ;)β€οΈ
