As Bill Lewis tinkered away in his garage, he could have never fathomed what would happen when his hard work and creativity came together in a simple yet genius invention. When Bill handed out test baits to his
buddies that stopped by the garage little did he know he would encounter a fleet of spectators on Toledo Bend gathered around watching a guy put on a fish catching show with one of his creations. Big fish after big fish with dozens of bass caught over 6lbs. on a day when the bite was so tough that everyone just pulled up their boats in amazement to watch the show. As Bill drove home from the lake that day in his old beat up Ford station wagon rattling down the road; he couldn't help but associate his car with his new bait, and so came the name for his new lure, the Rat-L-Trap. Since those early days in 1964, Bill Lewis Lure's legendary Rat-L-Trap has sold around the world. To name a few accolades Outdoor Life magazine has named it the "Most Influential" lure in bass fishing and the lure has been used for everything from winning a Bassmaster Classic to helping a kid catch fish in Central Park, NY.
