When I named my floral shop Steel Magnolias, I chose that name because the movie represented the kind of women I have always admired—women who can be soft and beautiful, yet strong enough to weather life’s hardest storms.

Dolly Parton made Truvy unforgettable. She gave her warmth, humor, sparkle, and a heart big enough to hold every woman who walked through the doors of her beauty shop. In many ways, that is the same feeling I have always wanted inside my own shop—a place filled with flowers, laughter, love, and people caring for one another. I strive to be “Truvy”.

Today, Dolly’s passing feels a little closer to home. The world has lost an incredible woman, but the kindness, joy, generosity, and light she shared will continue to bloom for generations.

“Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.”

Rest peacefully, Dolly. You will forever be our Truvy—and forever a true Steel Magnolia. 🌸
