It’s Featured Instrument of the Week!

This week, we have a Neapolitan - Italian violin by Carlo Loveri, 1860. It is a lovely modern Italian instrument with one piece back, Italian varnish, and elegant sound.

Three Things Destroying Your Bow Hair 🎻

Your bow hair won’t last forever — but a few common habits can shorten its lifespan faster than you might think.

1. Leaving it too tight.

Always loosen your bow after playing. Keeping the hair under tension while your bow is stored can put unnecessary stress on both the hair and the bow itself.

2. Touching the hair excessively.

The natural oils on your hands can transfer onto the bow hair, making it harder for rosin to grip properly. Try to handle your bow by the stick and frog instead.

3. Bow bugs! Yes — they’re real.

If your bow sits unused for long periods, carpet beetle larvae can actually eat through the horsehair. Regularly playing your instrument and checking your case can help keep these tiny bow-destroyers away.
