I have been using the No.83 Leather Tally Record Book Cover Full Grain offshore for a few months now, and it has easily exceeded my expectations. Working offshore means gear takes an absolute beating from the elements, mud, and rough handling, but this full-grain oil-tanned Kodiak leather handles it all without breaking a sweat.
The craftsmanship from Lazy 3 Leather Co is phenomenal. The stitching is incredibly heavy-duty, and the leather is thick yet pliable enough to stay comfortable in a back pocket. It fits a standard 8" x 3-3/4" oilfield tally book perfectly, keeping the interior pages dry and secure. I also opted for the custom laser engraving, and the company logo came out incredibly sharp and clean.
If you are tired of cheap vinyl covers tearing apart after a few hitches, do yourself a favor and invest in this. It is tough, classic, and already developing a great rugged patina. Built for the patch and made to last a career.

A big win in the shop today. Our youngest son (now graduated) worked on/designed a little jig for us to use while stamping the Kanfs logo into their strops. It sped up the process and cut the stamping time in half. Amazing small little 3D printed jig making a big difference today. Thanks Jordie!

Sneak peek of what we have going on in the shop today! We’re working on some strops for Knafs, trying to get ahead on orders and shorten up our lead time.
I also got some new leather in today for our tally books, which we’ll be offering soon, so I’m working on a few samples.
And I stained up some edges on knife sheaths that are drying on the rack and getting ready to head out tomorrow.
Making some good progress in the shop today!

If you need your knafs strop a little more on the rough side to sharpen your blade - Here's our Pro tip of your day. Take your knife stand it straight up on its cutting edge and drag it across the surface of the leather and it will rough it up to give you a texture to your sharpening surface. Rinse and repeat until you have achieved your desired result.

Then after you've done that, apply some polishing compound and sharpen the knife you just drug across the top of your leather strop, it might need it. 😉

One of the reasons we created the Bishop Scout Carry Sheath goes back to when Todd was driving a semi truck in the Colorado oil fields.

He wanted to carry a fixed blade every day, but he didn't want to take it off his belt every time he climbed in and out of the truck. He wanted something slim, close to the body, comfortable to wear all day, not noticeable when his shirt was untucked, and less likely to catch on anything getting in and out of the cab.

That's how the Bishop Scout Carry was born.

This little video shows our son climbing in and out of the truck while wearing one. It's a simple way to show just how easy and comfortable it is to carry without it getting in the way.

It honestly makes our day when customers tell us we accomplished exactly what we set out to do.
