WE (literally all of us as a community) made a zine! I’ve been wanting to create a zine for a while now and this past Queens book crawl felt like the perfect time for us to launch it. It was a quick submission period and a turnaround period for us to actually print it out.

But don’t worry for the next one will be giving a TWO month submission period. This is gonna be even bigger and we will release it on the third year anniversary of the store. I already have the topic so be on the lookout for that and thank you to everyone who submitted thank you to everyone who has already bought it when they come into the store !

Thank you again to all the contributors and everyone who submitted you guys are amazing. And thank you to Bonnie for her awesome illustration and Molly for formatting 🎉

Maybe I’ll even submit in the next one 🙂‍↕️

Sunday May 10 is our first Sunday at Travers Park!

Launching with an important book especially during the time of massive book bans is amazing and to do it here in Jackson Heights where pride started in Queens is even more meaningful!

These are exactly the type of books this series is meant to highlight and we are so excited to have launch the series for us.

If it rains we’ll be at the store! And we’ll be there every Sunday till October!

Hehe 🤭 I’m happy just being mayor of my corner. And I hope to me the mayor of this corner for a while and I know that books each visit is expensive and we throw so many types of events that maybe you’re not an avid reader and that’s okay.

In case you missed it we are bringing free children literary events every Sunday starting May 10th to October. We have local authors we’ll have authors visiting us and we’ll have debut authors and even have some book launches here!

Excited to be able to give back to the park I grew up playing in with events that are accessible for all. Check out all the books and events on our website!

So excited to announce our new series Pages in the Park! A free weekly literary gathering designed for families, stories, and community.

This was created to build more accessible literary spaces for local families in our neighborhood starting off with the park I grew up in!!

Every Sunday at 11AM in Travers Park at the amphitheater authors and illustrators will come together to read their books aloud, bringing stories to life in the heart of our neighborhood.

Families can also preorder featured titles to receive a signed and personalized copy, making each story even more special.

This was done in collaboration with we invited over 20 authors/illustrators and Bonnie also made this awesome illustrated flyer!!! See if you spot a mascot in there 👀

As an ongoing partnership with the Queens Parks Department I hope to bring this to other parks all over Queens. Let me know where you want me to go! And I’ll bring some authors along.

Independent Bookstore Day is coming and we’re celebrating the best and largest borough the only way we know how: with books, community, and a little adventure.

Introducing the Queens Bookstore Crawl Passport

Here’s how it works:

-Pick up your passport at any of the 8 participating bookstores starting April 18

-Visit each shop and collect your stamps all week long (4/18–4/26)
