💜 Sunday Gratitude: Our Vendors 💜

This week, we're showing a little extra love and appreciation to the people who help make The Old Pioneer Flea Market what it is — OUR VENDORS! ❤️

With around 140 vendors under one roof, we've got a whole lot of different personalities, ideas, opinions, talents, and treasures! And that's part of what makes this place so special.

Running a market this size isn't always easy. Sometimes I get to be the friend, the cheerleader, the helping hand, and the person celebrating right alongside you. Other times, I have to put on my "boss hat," make the tough decisions, enforce the not-so-fun rules, and choose what's best for the market as a whole, even when it might not be what's best for an individual vendor.

And believe me, that isn't always my favorite part of the job! 😂

But that's why I'm especially grateful for the vendors who understand that those decisions are never personal. They're made because we want this entire market, and everyone who is part of it, to have the opportunity to succeed.

I'm grateful for the vendors who take pride in their spaces, who help their neighbors, who roll with the changes, who offer suggestions, who lend a hand without being asked, and who understand that we're all working toward the same goal.

I'm grateful for the laughs, the conversations, the friendships, and even the occasional headaches. 😂❤️ Because let's face it, you don't get a family this big without a little chaos!

Most importantly, I'm grateful that you've chosen The Old Pioneer Flea Market to be home to your small businesses, collections, creations, and treasures. We know you have choices, and we don't take that trust lightly.

Momma and I may be the ones running the market, but YOU are a huge part of what makes The Old Pioneer, The Old Pioneer.

Thank you for growing with us, being patient with us, supporting us, and helping us build something we're all proud to be part of.

Here's to our wonderfully unique, sometimes stubborn, always interesting Pioneer family! 😂💜

🐿️ SATURDAY SHENANIGANS: AW, NUTS! 🥜😂

Well, folks... we've already had our first casualty of the day here at The Old Pioneer Flea Market! 🤦‍♀️

This poor little squirrel was just minding his business, guarding his nuts, when tragedy struck. 💥

And what were the very first words out of my mouth?

"AW, NUTS!" 🤣

Pun absolutely intended. I couldn't help myself. 😂

The squirrel may have lost his dish, but at least he gave us a good laugh!

Just another perfectly normal Saturday around here! 🤪

Our FREE LIBRARY at The Old Pioneer Flea Market is filling up, and I couldn't be more excited about how it's coming together! 😍

We've been busy sorting, organizing, and shelving books, and just LOOK at the progress!

We've got a little bit of EVERYTHING for our adult readers! 📖

But here's what surprised me the most...

We need KIDS' and TEENS' books!!! 😱

I really thought those would be some of our fullest shelves, but they're actually where we're lacking the most!

So we're putting out a little call to our wonderful community! ❤️

📚 Do you have children's books, picture books, early readers, chapter books, or teen novels collecting dust at home?

We would LOVE to give them a new home where other families can enjoy them!

Our goal is simple: Get books into the hands of people who want to read them, without cost being a barrier. ❤️

Every book in this room is completely FREE. No purchases necessary, no strings attached. Just books waiting for their next reader!

We're getting closer and closer to having this little project ready to share with everyone, and we couldn't do it without the generosity of our community.

🔎 WHAT IS IT WEDNESDAY — THE REVEAL! 🔎

Well, apparently Wednesday came and went, and somebody forgot to reveal the answer! 🤦‍♀️😂 Better late than never, right?!

🥁 DRUMROLL PLEASE... 🥁

This week's mystery item is an antique STEELYARD BALANCE SCALE! ⚖️

Also known as a Pea Scale or Cotton Scale, these old-fashioned weighing devices were commonly used on farms to weigh things like cotton, to***co, and other goods.

Here's how it worked! 👇

The item being weighed was hung from the hook, and the heavy iron weight (called a pea) was moved along the metal beam until everything balanced. The markings on the beam told you how much your load weighed!

No batteries. No digital screens. Just good old-fashioned ingenuity! 💪

We love finding pieces like this because they're a little reminder of how folks got things done long before our modern conveniences.

Are you someone who believes you get what you pay for, or do you think a fancy name on the label doesn't necessarily mean better quality?

❤️ THIS: Give me the high-end name brand! I'll gladly pay more for quality, reputation, and something built to last.

👍 THAT: Save me some money! If the less expensive version gets the job done, why pay extra for a name?

We're not just talking tools, either! Think clothing, kitchen gadgets, furniture, electronics, and everything in between!
