For our local patrons in Louisiana I felt the need to put out a little info about one of our recent post.. We posted about the legality of suppressor ownership in Louisiana.. This post somehow went viral with over 175k views. We have a lot of comments from people in other states that their laws and regulations are different. We even got our first bad review of the store since 2014 from someone in Minnesota that has never done business with us or ever been in the store.. We are dedicated to keeping everyone legal and not making a purchase from our store a regret or legal liability afterwards.. We don’t have a Silencer Shop account, we don’t sell Silencer Shop suppressors and do not fit within the new guidelines of the suppressor new legislation.. Even so, we are still waiting on the Louisiana Legislature to change the current laws on the books. I believe we will see clarity from the state and ATF inside the next 45 days or so.. In the meantime, we are still processing suppressors on a Form 4 with an average return time of less than 7 days for most customers.. We have around 100 suppressors in stock currently with Silencerco Hybrid 46’s coming next week and Silencerco Omegas coming in about 10 days.

Everyone please read and share!! Louisiana R.S title 56 :116.6. By current Louisiana state law in order to hunt with a suppressor, a tax stamp is required for proof of ownership.

§116.6. Sound suppressors

Any person who is authorized to possess a firearm sound suppressor, as evidenced by payment and possession of the required federal tax stamp issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives, may use a firearm fitted with a sound suppressor when taking game birds, wild quadrupeds, outlaw quadrupeds, nutria, or beaver as provided by R.S. 56:116.1. Any person who has been convicted of a class four or greater hunting violation for a period of five years after the date of such conviction shall not use a firearm fitted with a sound suppressor pursuant to this Section. Possession or use of a sound suppressor by a person other than as permitted by this Section shall be considered in violation of this Section and shall be punished as a class six violation in accordance with the provisions of R.S. 56:36.

So, the current suppressors sold on 4473's are not eligible to be hunted with in the State of Louisiana.. Don't get hung up on this..

I’ll clear the air.. There are gun shops that have legal advice that they can now sell suppressors on a 4473.. Good for them.. I’m glad they are taking the initiative to support our 2nd Amendment rights. Im on the other side making sure customers are safe after a purchase and not in limbo. It’s more important to me that I can sell you something and you not end up in legal trouble 45 days from now. There is a massive difference of opinion between gun shops right now. And it’s just opinion whether it’s lawyer legal opinion or what the ATF guidelines are. My suggestion is to fail safe.. We have too many unanswered questions at this point to ensure the legal status of a purchase.. We don’t know the legal ramifications of hunting across state lines, multiple disposition paperwork, etc.. after all.. we got back a form 4 inside 24 hours today.. Why put yourself and your livelihood at risk.. I understand exercising rights.. I’m in full support.. but I’m also in support of not having to deal with some BS afterwards.. Jim’s fi****ms has always been a reputable store.. They are the only shop I trust transferring cans currently on 4473’s .. They know something I don’t evidently..

Some shops chase dollars.. some actually rub two brain cells together to make a spark and try to take care of their customers!! Chose your gun shop wisely.. The easiest question to answer is the question never asked.. It’s easy to fold and have no consideration for your customers safety for a dollar.. How do you run a gun shop.. don’t give a s**t about your customers and put them at risk when there is specific warnings from the local ATF agents.. Jesus that’s so petty for such little profit.. You should be ashamed of yourself.
