Will R. inherited this Troy Built Bronco Tiller from his late Father-in-law’s estate. Rather than throw it away, he opted to get it repaired. The tiller clearly had been left out in the elements for several years. The wheels were locked to the axle, the entire fuel tank and carburetor were filled up with rust and water, as well as the combustion chamber. When he brought it to us, I told him there was a good chance the engine might be too far gone. Luckily, I was able to break the piston loose inside the cylinder, and could not detect any major damage. Next, I went about removing all of the water and rust from the fuel system and carburetor. Water was also inside of the crank case, which was removed and cleaned. Fresh oil was added. Finally, after using a combination of several different methods, I got the wheels freed from the axle. I then cleaned the rust off, added grease, and reassembled. It purrs like a kitten now, and Will is able to have a tiller that will last many more years to come. Even with all of the work performed, he paid less than 1/3rd the cost of a new tiller. He’s happy.
