I hope you’ve all been finding success in your search for 30th Celebrations product out there in the wild - or whatever else you’re finding while this crazy market is distracted. As has often been the case recently, it sounds like “patience” may be the name of the game, while supply and pricing finds equilibrium.

As I mentioned the other day, we will not be taking 30th singles in for trade this weekend, and we unfortunately do not have any 30th available for purchase. Happy Thursday! I hope you have all been finding success in looking for 30th Celebration product out in the wild!

I will not be at The Hub tonight, but Angie and Teddy will be holding down the fort.

A few comments:
=============
- No, The Hub does not have any sealed 30th product available at this time, sorry! Having new product on release has never been our model. Will we have it at some point? Absolutely. I would think it will start trickling in over the next week or two.

- 30th Celebration singles - As with other new releases, it typically takes a couple weeks for the market prices on singles to settle in to a more appropriate price range, after the initial hype dies down. Because of that, we generally don’t take trade-ins on singles from new release sets. Will we eventually? Absolutely. If you pulled something big from 30th, congratulations! Bring it in to us in a couple weeks.  😏

- 30th Celebration sealed products - Sourcing product from the secondary market is a big part of the long-term model at The Hub. Buying out collections and taking trade ins, targeted sourcing from certain retail opportunities, “accumulating and being patient” - yes, that is generally the model I have established, first with LEGO, and more recently with Pokémon.

That said, I have kept an open mind when dealing with the crazy (and sometimes frustrating) Pokemon market conditions that have been present over the past year and a half. Whether you’re just a family buying double sets of sealed product - one to open, and another to resell to recoup your original cost - or if you have honed your skills as a “sourcer” (so much nicer sounding than “scalper” 🤨🙄), I am always open to taking in sealed product from the secodary market. I am not typically in a position to pay “maximum, top of current market”, but if you’re looking for a reliable buyer at a price point that makes sense for both of us, there is often a “sweet spot” to be found.

If you disagree philosophically with me on this topic, no worries! If you firmly think “this is what happens when a scalper opens a shop”, again, no worries. I’d be happy to have a more in-depth conversation with you about the market conditions that we’re all having to deal with. Or, if you’re more comfortable semi-anonymously blasting me in the comments, have at it. 🤨🤷🏼‍♂️

Back to 30th sealed product! At this time, I will be taking any sealed 30th product from out in the wild at $10/pk equivalent for trade. No cash buyouts of sealed at this time, until the market as a whole decides where things are going to land. Will this sourcing model for 30th change and evolve as the release date disappears into the distance in our rear view mirrors? Absolutely. But for now, that’s where we’re at!

Jo and Brandon’s run with Ascended swept the leader board for this weekend, with their Lillie’s Clefairy SIR, Gengar mega attack rare, and Emboar SIR taking down all three prizes. Thanks to everyone who made a run at it this weekend!
