ON THE SHELF: INDIE PICKS

Riverdale, Innistrad and a baseball diamond from Hell. Clearly, the indie publishers did not coordinate—and somehow nailed it anyway.

• Archie vs. the Terminator #1 — Dynamite sends teenage John Connor to Riverdale High, with a Terminator close behind. Archie and the gang may finally have a problem that cannot be solved with a milkshake.

• Magic: The Gathering: Untold Stories – Liliana #1 — Dark Horse takes Liliana Vess back to Innistrad as she hunts the demon Griselbrand and fights to reclaim the piece of her soul he owns.

• Cassie #1 — BOOM! Studios collects Cassie’s story from Hello Darkness into a campy, blood-soaked one-shot where a baseball game takes a very demonic turn.

Killer robot, powerful necromancer or baseball from Hell—which one are you taking home?

ON THE SHELF: IMAGE & IDW

This week brings horror, kaiju, classified space missions and one deeply suspicious ice cream truck. Nice little Wednesday.

• Ice Cream Man: Chocolate/Vanilla Twist #1 — Image revisits the series’ first issue in black and white with a decoder lens, hidden cover details and a brand-new short story.

• Universal Monsters: Frankenstein Black & White Special #1 — Michael Walsh’s haunting Frankenstein tale returns in a 56-page black-and-white edition collecting the first two chapters.

• Starship Godzilla: Invasion X #1 — The Starship Godzilla crew survived its first encounter with the Xiliens—but accidentally started a galactic war in the process.

• Star Trek: Zero Point #1 — Raffi Musiker takes command of the U.S.S. Endeavour and must decide whether to trust her crew or the powerful, untested AI guiding its classified missions.

• You’ll Never Leave This Place Alive #1 — A death on graduation night exposes the terrifying truth behind a supposedly perfect and isolated community. It isn’t a sanctuary. It’s a cage.

Which one are you picking up?

Are you following the Bad Seeds chaos or brushing up on Clayface before the movie?
