I'm letting fall get a little moodier this year.

Not necessarily more orange. Just deeper greens, faded plaids, old florals and those colors that look like they've been around awhile.

I've always loved the softer side of fall, but I'm finding myself wanting a little more depth mixed in with all my whites lately.

We'll see where that takes me. ๐Ÿ‚

I was thinking this morning about how much grace has already been tucked into my life.

Not just the big things.

A prayer answered years ago. Somebody showing up at the right time. A door opening that I didnโ€™t expect. Even some of the things I thought were disappointments at first and understood a little better later.

I donโ€™t always notice grace while itโ€™s happening.

Sometimes I have to look back.

And when I do, thereโ€™s usually more of it than I remembered.

Iโ€™m thankful for that today.

Grace for grace.

I think Iโ€™ll just leave it there this morning. ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒฟ

I'm at the point in fall where I'm bringing bits of outside in with me.

A branch that's turning pretty. Pinecones. Something dried from the garden. Whatever I happen to come across.

Put those things with a few old crocks and pumpkins and I don't need much else.

Maybe that's what I like most about this time of year. Nature does most of the decorating for us. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‚

I've said before that I have a hard time passing up an old cabinet, and apparently we're testing just how many I could fit into one house.

But these tall ones really are useful. Linens, dishes, books, all the things you want nearby but don't necessarily want sitting out.

I'd leave every bit of that worn paint alone, though.

Time already did the hard work of making it look that good. ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒฟ

I think we sometimes underestimate how much the little happy things matter.

A good conversation. Something that makes you laugh. Breakfast with somebody you love. A beautiful morning when you weren't expecting one.

Life has enough serious things in it all on its own. I don't think God expects us to feel guilty for enjoying the good He gives us along the way.

So I'm going to look for a few reasons to smile today. I hope you find some too.

That's a pretty short verse for something that can cover an entire day.

The things I have to do today probably aren't all that different from any other day. Work to do, people to talk to, things around the house that need attention.

But I can choose how I do all of it.

With patience. With kindness. And hopefully with a little more love than irritation when the day doesn't go exactly the way I planned.

That's what I'm carrying with me today.

I think this one is beautiful.

Because faith is a funny thing sometimes.

I havenโ€™t seen Jesus with my own eyes. I wasnโ€™t there for the miracles. I didnโ€™t hear His voice in the streets.

And yet He has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Iโ€™ve prayed to Him. Trusted Him. Questioned Him. Thanked Him. Needed Him.

And somehow that relationship is real enough to carry joy with it.

Not the kind of joy that means everything is perfect.

Just that deeper kind that says, I know Who I belong to.

I know where my hope is.

And on a Sunday morning, that feels like a pretty wonderful thing to remember. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒฟ

I could probably live on a porch from September through November if the weather would cooperate.

I love keeping the furniture and pillows soft and neutral, then letting a few pumpkins and dried flowers bring fall in.

Although I'm apparently incapable of adding just one pumpkin. Once I start, they tend to multiply. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‚

Old green cabinets... they just pull me hard.

The chippier the paint, the better. I love mixing pieces like this with old books, pottery, flowers and whatever I've collected along the way.

I don't want everything in a room to be perfect. Give me one old piece with a little history showing and I'm happy. ๐ŸŒฟ
