It's National Arbor Day, so let's talk about the importance of tree conservation! According to the Arbor Day Foundation (arborday.org), tree conservation and replanting aids in watershed protection, flood control, wildlife habitats & endangered populations, soil stabilization, & carbon sequestration (our forests handle about 50 million metric tons every year, which combats climate change).

Did you know h**p is a regenerative plant?

Naturally, h**p plants are resistant to pests; thus, pesticides and toxic drainage aren't an issue. H**p plants and their roots produce large amounts of biodegradable matter, which leaves the ground fertile while decontaminating soil. For this reason, they are also great for crop rotation. Their fields also provide homes for many types of pollinators!

According to information published by the European Industrial H**p Association for the European Union, h**p can be used for "bioplastics, construction, high protein foods and beverages, food supplements, textiles, paper products, composites, biofuel, [and] graphene substitutes[.]" It also has significant environmental benefits. H**p "is carbon negative, which means it absorbs more carbon from the atmosphere during its growth than is emitted by the equipment used to harvest, process, and transport it.” “H**p's rapid growth makes it one of the fastest CO2-to-biomass conversion tools available, more efficient than agroforestry."

Additionally, h**p plants do not require as much water as other crops, such as cotton, and their growth rate is faster than the trees we use to produce paper products. Because we can use h**p to create many of the items that traditional crops are grown and harvested for, it is the perfect candidate for a cleaner, greener future.
