A year and a half later and I’m still learning to embrace the chaos that is having three kids. I still struggle with being a Type A personality that wants everything neat and clean, when life is anything but. Every day is a fight to keep the countertops clean. And to keep the toys off the floor. And to get the sticky handprints off of every other surface they can reach.

But when I throw them all in the bath together (covered in a film of macaroni and cheese) and they laugh hysterically, they’re teaching me what’s really important. We’re growing together and sometimes those growing pains can be rough, but they can also lead to tiny naked baby butts and mouthfuls of bubbles and giggles that are pure joy. 🛁

When I dreamed about having kids I pictured having these perfect moments, when they’d be opening presents on Christmas morning or running through sprinklers in the summer. What I didn’t imagine was 2 sick baby girls whining and feeling sh*tty all day. But I also didn’t imagine their big brother pulling them onto the sofa to snuggle. Wrapping his arms around them and making up songs about how he hopes they feel better and is here to protect them. This right here. This is THE stuff. The real life moments that are far better than what I could’ve dreamed up. 💕

A girl can never get too many flowers and my mama’s boy does not disappoint. Some days he pulls smushed up flowers out of his pocket that he found for me at school and other times I get them during our walks around the neighborhood, but I cherish them all. I’ve started pressing them in a book as a lame attempt to preserve his pure sweetness at this age.

But now what? Frame them? Make a book of flowers that I can cry over when he’s grown?! Suggestions appreciated. 🌼🌿🌾

Ever gotten a call from the preschool director of your kids peanut-free school because “the girls lunch smells an awful lot like peanuts”? Just me?

Not only did I send them with leftover Pad Thai, I proceeded to send Elliott with a 2 days later, which resulted in him coming home and very sternly reminding me that “we are not allowed to have peanut butter at school mama”.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. Mom brain is real. To the parents of children who have allergies, from the bottom of my heart I’m sorry for putting any kids at risk. I still struggle with the sheer number of things I’m required to remember on a day to day basis, and sometime I royally screw up. I promise to do better.

Dropping truth bombs today on how I handle having twin babies and a five-year-old.
