Simplicity is my love language. Yet, it’s tragically poetic (or poetically tragic?) how complex and fast moving my mind is. I’ve tried stuffing and swallowing my voice, feelings, opinions, for years. Afraid that I would alienate potential customers or let someone down. Always feeling like I was too much or not enough. The weight of others made me believe I was to carry it without question.
After scrolling through my Instagram feed today, I became so enraged. How, WHY did i diminish myself for the sake of public opinion. I feel my most seen and understood when I am open to connection with those who can feel on the level I feel. By cutting the corners of my persona, hoping to fit into someone else’s box, I’ve lost that connection. I’ve let others write my narrative. Allowing my true self to drift out to space.
I can recognize the issue. Im a strong woman. I have moved into rage. I feel the burn of tears swelling behind my eyes 3-4 times a week. I feel the need to roar to release the tension that is constantly building in chest.
This isn’t a pity post. It is the opposite. It is me, reclaiming my story. Nothing Fancy was never a superficial brand business. It was poured out me through my life experiences. Created to give me and my family the freedom to live without boundaries. Unfortunately, it has taken me this long to harness the power that kind of creativity can have. I’ve seen others struggle under the same pressure and disappear. I thought that was my story. But it’s not. I wasn’t made to be small, keep quiet or simply exist for the pleasure of others.
Life is messy. And I’m not good at hiding a mess.
Not everyone will understand this post and that’s ok. It’s not for you. It’s for me.
