You know we’re all about history here!
In 1781, General George Washington crossed through Narragansett Ave. in Jamestown, RI. He went across the island to meet the French in Newport in order to discuss plans for the remainder of the war in the Virginia Campaign. To commemorate and celebrate Gen. Washington make landing at our island, we are having the first annual Crossing Day parade, Saturday, May 14th. The parade starts at the corner of Narragansett Ave. and North Road at 11 am, and will proceed to East Ferry, where there will be a beer garden, lawn games, a historical lecture for kids, and food vendors! We can’t wait for everyone to come together to celebrate our island and it’s place in US history!
