👀L O O T S H O O T👀 I think one of my favorite parts of the 127YardSale.com is unloading and staging everything! When ur on the trail, everything gets tossed in totes in the trailer so unpacking … well, it’s like Christmas!!! Apparently this year I was attracted to warm wood tones, western and an outdoorsy aesthetic. Is that different from other years? No. No it’s not😂 so if that’s your vibe … be sure to come see me at The Found Cottage Mercantile over Labor Day weekend in 📍 Holland, MI ‼️

You know I had to save the best for last!👀 honestly I think all of our barns are pretty adorable but my barn, where I have hosted hundreds of events, workshops, get togethers, birthday parties and even a wedding(!) will always hold a special place in my heart.
We started building my barn in 2013, salvaging 6 outbuildings and old barns that would’ve otherwise ended up in the landfill or burned. We traveled all over Michigan taking down barns and old buildings and eventually found enough siding, flooring, the old barn door track as well as the doors. The small windows on the back came from a chicken coop that had fallen down the road. The flooring is from 3 different hay mows and perfectly worn from years of sliding bales across the wood. I bought the doors for $10 each. We finished building in 2015, and I hosted my very first barn sale in fall of 2015. A toddler at my side and baby on my hip❤️my proud husband right there next to me🥹
It all has a story, which I love. The nostalgia is my favorite part🥹
It’s attracted lots of you to come shop when I host barn sales, it’s been featured in Country Living and even rocked the cover of Better Homes & Gardens Farmhouse Edition at Christmas time! Thank you to all of you who’ve visited our humble little farm. You’ve all been a huge part of this journey ❤️

Ok so this is not *technically* a barn🫣 but it’s here on our little farm and I love it so it makes the cut!
Christmas of 2019, we surprised our kids with an Aframe Playhouse! They’d been asking for a playhouse and well, we love Aframe’s and our adventures we’d had staying in them on trips. So we secretly worked on the playhouse in the workshop, building the sides individually and then on Christmas Eve, once it was dark and they’d gone to bed, we constructed and surprised them Christmas morning! ✨❤️
They about came outta their footie pjs when they saw it! 🥹
7 years later, I think about the memories they had in that little Aframe. All the mud pies made, the pine needle soup and clover muffins 🥹 I hope they remember those core memories too.
It’s since been moved to the cowboy pool area bc the pines got too big and it’s mostly a hang out spot for Charlie and her pals❤️

So, 10 years ago, our kids were 5 and 2 and well, their toys were everywhere. It drove me crazy 🤪 we really needed a designated place for bikes and tricycles, the barbie jeep, the big wheel … ALL.THE.THINGS. I found an old shed listed on Craigslist for $125. Chris didn’t want to go get it. But I did. So, we compromised… and went and got it 😂

We filled it up with all the kids toys and called it the baby barn. I don’t really why😂 but we did. Swipe to see pics!

Now it has a quad in it, and some dried hydrangeas. But there was a time when it held scooters and helmets and hidden Easter eggs 🥹

It’s a fun place for photos and washing eggs or potting up plants. Fun fact. It sits perfectly on one of the original old cisterns our farmhouse has❤️

Welcome to part 3 of my fun new series where I show you and explain the history of the barns on our little farm! Barn No 3 is aptly named “The wood barn,” because well, she stores wood! This was our pandemic project in 2020. We were weary of storing all the reclaimed lumber in my big barn, or the workshop, or basically anywhere we could squirrel it away😂🤦‍♀️
We use old lumber anytime we repair restoration pieces, so having a place to keep it sorted, organized and dry was needed! We used lumber we’d already had to build the entire thing. All we bought was the roofing, which of course, is also reclaimed and old☺️ my brother made the sign that reads “Maple Acres Farm” when we bought our place 17 years ago. My mom gifted me the mint green birdhouse as well❤️
She’s a cute little wood barn, I love the door too. My dad helped build that and hang the track, which we’d pulled off an old barn a few years back and saved. Same with the door handle. It’s nostalgic and I absolutely love having the ability to reuse old materials and give them a second chance at a new life, rather than the burn pile or the landfill.

In the summer of 2012, I brought home a baby goat🥹😂 she was 3 days old and was an “oops” baby and well, the people she belonged to, were going to get rid of her, if you catch my drift😬 anyway, me, the animal lover that I am, wasn’t havin that so she came home with me. Haha surprise hubby! Were we going to build a barn for farm animals? No… not yet anyway … but did we? Yes, yes we did😂🤪
We didn’t plan on building it, so we salvaged lumber from dumpsters and built it on a shoestring budget. I distinctly remember thinking, I have a toddler and now a baby goat running thru my house, WHAT AM I DOING🤦‍♀️😂 a few years later, we added Mona to the pasture. My daughter was 2 at the time and like her mama, loved horses. And so did my then, 5 year old son. They’d asked for a horse and while I wasn’t ready to add a full size horse to the farm then, a pony would be perfect. So in 2016, the goat barn officially became the pony barn. The goats have since passed away, and Mona gained a pony friend in 2022. Mona and Flash now called this humble abode their home🖤🐴🖤

For my birthday a few years ago, we gave it a makeover and painted it black to match the rest of our barns. It wasn’t always here, but it has a story here and is here to stay✨
