Late last week and I traveled to Dartmouth Hitchcock and Dana Farber to meet the oncology teams. After some bloodwork and CT scans we are now officially cancer free! You’d think we would have jumped around and cheered but it was quiet. Reflective. Sort of like when you shut after the radio after a near crash and drive slowly in silence. It’s been a crazy run since May 2025, but we are excited about 2026. Stay safe out there folks.

Not a business post but I felt it should be shared. Final infusion, 12/2. I’ve been quiet on social media. This was my journey, to have and complete. Today I finished my 12th chemotherapy infusion. In March this year I was diagnosed with Stage IIIa colon cancer with several lymph nodes testing positive. A couple of surgeries and 12 sessions of chemotherapy made 2025 one hell of a ride. I did very little skating, drumming, and drum restos, and focused on trying to be a good parent and husband and staying healthy. So many friends and family supported me and my family these past 8 months. The love, care, and support by so many amazing humans has been life changing. Thank you for being my teammate and partner through all of this. I’m op blessed and ready for 2026.

Late 1960’s Slingerland No. 140 aluminum snare. A fun project and interesting drum. It’s a seamed aluminum shell that can be tough to tune over the seam. It is extremely thin shelled, will rolled and folded bearing edges and bent (crushed lol) snare beds.

Fun day meeting some nice folks. Premier APK 6-piece (may be claimed by Fiona as her new drumset), late 70s Acro, Blacro, and a Slingerland COB Buddy Rich model missing the TDR system. Some cracked cymbals and some other disgusting drums too but these were fun to take home.

Ludwig Super-Sensitive Snare L-411, 6.5x14, Chrome over Aluminum, Keystone Badge, Chicago (1984). $419.99 plus shipping. This drum is in great shape for COA Ludalloy with over 41 years on its clock.  The drum has been completely disassembled, de-greased, ultrasonically cleaned, and polished.  We replaced one of the plastic cam slides (P1160A) as well as three of the tensions rods with Ludwig parts (PKR23PP).  It has brand new Evans G12 coated batter and 300 Reso heads, and new Puresound SS snare wires, making it ready to play on arrival. The drums and hoops are round, and the drum tunes up incredibly well.
What makes this drum unique is the badge. The last of the Chicago-badged drums with the (then)new large Keystone badge, this signified the end of Chicago-made drums and the move to Monroe NC for Ludwig. These badges lasted about a year (from what we understand) during 1984.

Transparency NOTE: There are minor imperfections in the chrome where lifting/bubbling/acne are present, and we provided a 360-degree view of the finish to catch ever imperfection. Small scratches are visible on the lugs and one of the SS cage bars has lost some of its chrome plating. Check out our Reverb store (link in bio)

Today we said goodbye to one of our best friends and our first family member, Ms. Ruby Vroom. She was an amazing pupper who lived a long and happy life. We were blessed that she shared it with us. Ruby is one half of the “pittie” in Pittie Bones Drum Shop. Fly hard little girl. ❤️

Ludwig L404 Acrolite with textured finish (1990) $229.99 plus shipping. This shell is in beautiful shape with original “390” ink stamped inside. Lugs, strainer, and butt are in great shape with very good chrome and all lugs are spring tensioned and original. The lugs were removed, cleaned, and new foam inserts fitted.  The tension rods, washers, and swivel nuts are cleaned and greased. The batter hoop appears to be likely 1990’s and feels more like a 2.3mm Ludwig hoop. The resonant hoop is round and true with the smaller snare gates, but unfortunately has scratching and pitting throughout (seen in pics or ask for more photos). This is ready to play with an almost new Ludwig heavy coated batter, new Evans 300 reso, and original (as found) Ludwig wires. Paiste 18” Signature Power Crash cymbal. From Paiste: “Very bright, full, high pitched. Wide range, clean mix. Responsive, swelling attack with long fade, extremely cutting. Very well suited wherever strong, cutting, powerful crashes are needed.”
This cymbal is portly, weighing in at 1681 grams, but feels lighter than that when hit. It has no crack, fleabites, or keyholing and in in excellent condition other than slight tarnish/dirt from use. The serial # is 467454, putting its production around 1994. A great heavy crash with that Paiste brightness and attack. $229.99 + shipping

Top cymbal is 908 grams and the bottom is 1063 grams. These cymbals have no nicks, fleabites or keyholing. The top cymbal is serial #142698 and the bottom is 142607. $259.99 + shipping

Ludwig L-404 Acrolite SN # 1342242 (1978ish), $269.99 plus shipping. This Acrolite was restored to an incredibly clean, polished, and repaired beauty. Its prior player, a young frustrated student, scratched “F**k You” into the back portion of the shell (pictured) likely after having to run through Stick Control page 5 for the 1000th time.  It has its original P-85 snare strainer, tension rods, and brass washers.  The lugs were removed, cleaned, and new foam inserts fitted. The tension rods, washers, and swivel nuts are cleaned and greased. It has brand new Evans G12 coated batter and 300 Reso heads, and new Puresound 20 strand steel snare wires, making it ready to play on arrival. NOTE: The batter hoop appears to be original for the year in the lighter weight thickness, but the bottom hoop is a heavier weight (2.3mm?) and has the rounded snare gate from the 70s and 80s.
