You just know the woman who wore this was a teacher. 👩‍🏫

Late ’80s/early ’90s teacher. 🍎🍎🍎 A write-on-the-chalkboard, roll-in-the-TV-cart, drawing-from-the-overhead-projector teacher. The kind who kept a piece of chalk in her pocket, a red pen on-the-ready, and probably had a "World’s Best Teacher" mug on their desk (and a dozen more, in the supply closet).

Her planning period was spent making numerous copies, laminating everything, and swapping Weight Watchers recipes with her coworkers in the teachers’ lounge...diet TaB in hand.

She loved her students—but when that final bell rang, she had other things to do. Maybe a little Jazzercise, a trip to the mall, thumbing through the new JCPenney catalog…and, from time to time, using her amateur sewing skills to make a new ensemble for Goosinda, her porch goose. 🪿 Her 80-something-year-old neighbor Hank always cracked jokes about the goose, but secretly got a kick out of every costume change. 😁

A bright red Coleman cooler catches your eye from across the room.

Suddenly you’re piling into the station wagon before sunrise.

The windows are rolled down.

The radio is playing.

Fishing poles rattle in the back while you’re reminded not to forget the tackle box.

By lunchtime, sandwiches are spread across a faded picnic blanket.

The lake sparkles.

Skipping rocks.

Trying to master water skis.

Watching clouds drift overhead.

As the day winds down, the cooler is a little lighter, the towels a little wetter, and nobody wants to be the first to say it’s time to head home.

You smile.

It feels like the ’60s.

When the best weekends only needed a lake…

and the people you loved.
