These trees are beautiful and the scent is to die for. We love our lindens we have in the garden!
Lindens a.k.a. the Bee Trees update 2026
Hard not to love a tree with a heart-shaped leaf, a propeller, a nutlet and is fragrant.
The Littleleaf linden, Tilia cordata, is native to Europe, but we have embraced it like it is our own in North America. It is a significant food resource for bees. It has a pyramidal shape with heart-shaped leaves. It is tolerant of alkaline soils and is hardy to Zone 3. They have yellow-green flowers with bracts (propeller-like modified leaf), and a small, round, nutlet as its fruit.
