Friends of the Jerome Public Library

Friends of the Jerome Public Library Used book sales to help support the Jerome Public Library and its programs You may know us as the book sale people. It's all for the library!

That's right, we not only keep up the small book store inside the library (best prices in town!) but also throw two big book sale parties each year, in early May and November. Why do we collect book donations, sort them, carry them around by the box-load? The money we raise from book sales is used to buy furniture and equipment, help fund reading programs for children, teens and adults, and provide other "extras" to stretch the library budget. Come join us--membership is just $10 per year.

The Friends of the Jerome Library recently received a HUGE box of Zane Grey westerns (63 volumes total, quite possibly every western he wrote). They are in decent but not pristine condition. We don't have room in the bookstore, and would like to offer them as a complete set before placing them out during our big sale of the year (scheduled for July 16-18, more about that later). If you are interested, please call 208-308-7196 and we'll make arrangements for you to take a look at them.

Yes, it's coming! And this year we have a bunch of children's books coming in just in time for our sale (most likely they will be displayed in the bookstore).

Say--it's almost book sale time! We are very low on children's books and a few other categories, but have an abundance of other types of books. You never know what treasures you'll find until you come and look! Friday and Saturday we'll also have a bake sale, for those who like to nibble while reading.

In case you hadn't heard (we shared their post below) the library will be getting new carpet for Christmas and will be closed for a few weeks, beginning December 11. That means the bookstore will also be closed, so come get your holiday reading and low-budget Christmas gifts now! We have a selection of Christmas-themed books we've been putting aside for the occasion on display, and are currently doing some extensive rotation of the nonfiction books--you may find something there that will be just the ticket for that special someone!

We have lots of craft books, an expanded humor section and a "new" category "vintage vehicles." Plenty of fiction, too, for all ages!

It's time for our annual book sale! Last year's summer sale went so well we've decided to make July our new goal. While we do have a small bookstore in the center of the library, space there is limited. Once a year we haul out ALL the books and spread them out in the meeting room.

We're having a summer book sale, starting tomorrow evening! It's been a long time since we've done the full-press book sale, but today we found out that despite a little confusion, we still know what we are doing. Nonfiction is in shorter supply than usual, but there is plenty of fiction, oodles of paperbacks, audiobooks and books for children and young adults to browse. We're also bringing back the bake sale, starting Friday morning!

Whoops! The library is closed for Veterans Day, so there will be no meeting this week. The box cutter book destruction party is still on, now scheduled for Thursday the 18th at 10:00, in the meeting room. BYOBC (bring your own box cutter) or I have a couple to share. This is to recycle some nonfiction books that just don't sell, so I can make room for books that people want. We may have a business meeting if enough people can handle the schedule change.
