Here I am forging a Puukko from a Damascus billet I made earlier this year.

Peening is a metalworking process where you strike the surface of a metal object to shape it, stretch it, or make it stronger. You usually do this with a special hammer that has a rounded or wedge-shaped tip (called a peen),
In this case I'm using a rounding hammer for the heavier blows at first then using a smaller ballpeen hammer.

This is a traditional method for securing a handle to the tang.

I've been busy with this custom piece. My client was involved from the initial sketches and material selection to the laser engraving and completion.
This piece had a few challenges for me and I always enjoy learning with each one.
