We specialize in handmade weighted blankets, memory animals, ring pillows and more. In 2014, my son was diagnosed with a sensory disorder. But it worked!

The OT recommended a weighted blanket to help him sleep. Upon my research I discovered that they were very expensive, but looked simple to make. So I attempted to make him one. Well it was small and packed full of pellets. I decided to continue trying and made him another one and that's when I cam e up with my current design. My goal is to make weighted blankets affordable. I customize each one. W

e want a print that the person will like and weight that feels good. I use poly pellets and 100% cotton fabric. That way the blanket stays cool and is also machine washable. I have also made some with flannel on one side and cotton on the other.

This is what a busy sewing room looks like. 😂🧵

There are memory animals waiting to be made, embroidery orders in progress, fabric everywhere, hoops piled on the table... and apparently I still need approximately 14 square feet more workspace than I actually have. 😂

Sewing From The Hart may look a little chaotic behind the scenes sometimes, but every piece sitting on this table belongs to someone's order—and every one of them has a story.

This weekend I'll be turning some of this pile into memory elephants, bears, dogs and other keepsakes made from clothing that means far more than just fabric. 💛

And yes, those sunflowers are absolutely staying in the middle of the chaos. 🌻

Apparently being a 5th grade long-term sub means I get to do the assignments too. 😂 Today we had to decorate a cube with our name, interests, favorite color, goals, etc.

I think mine really showcases my incredible artistic abilities. 🤣

There is a reason I sew the bears and do not draw them. 😂

🐾 Happy National Dog Day!

Around here, dogs sometimes come with a story stitched into them. 💛

These memory dogs are handmade from clothing that belonged to someone special—turning a favorite shirt, pair of pajamas, or other meaningful piece of clothing into something you can hold onto.

I think that's one of my favorite parts of what I do. I get handed clothing filled with memories, and little by little, it becomes something completely new without losing the story it came from.

Today seemed like the perfect day to share one. 🐶🧵

From a favorite shirt… to something you can hold onto. 💙

I photographed the process of turning this shirt into a memory bear because so much happens between the clothing arriving at my door and the finished keepsake.

Before I make that first cut, I think about the stripes, buttons, pockets and little details that make the clothing recognizable.

Then, piece by piece, the bear starts to take shape. 🧵🐻
