📚 Soul Sanctuary’s Psychological Thriller Book Club! The response to last night’s book club post was amazing, so let’s do it! I’m getting this scheduled now because events are being scheduled for October, more on those soon…

Our very first gathering will be:

📍 Soul Sanctuary Shop - 600 Theodore St.

This first night will be a relaxed, get-together where we can meet one another, talk about our favorite psychological thrillers and authors, share recommendations and then vote together on our very first book.

Our club will focus primarily on psychological thrillers, suspense and mysteries. You don’t need to read anything beforehand; just bring yourself and a few book or author suggestions if you have them.

🚨 RSVPs are very important! My shop is cozy and space is limited, so I need an accurate count to make sure I have enough room and chairs for everyone. Please comment “I’m in” or send me a private message to reserve your spot. If your plans change afterward, please let me know so I can open your chair for someone else.

OPEN today from 1–6 💜

I’m not going to lie, I’m struggling a little to keep up with replenishing the wax melts, especially the Fall Wall, but I’ll get it done! One batch at a time.

One new fall scent is officially ready to melt on Wednesday, but I’m putting it on the board today, so if you stop in, feel free to grab it early! It’s called Crust Issues, because some problems can only be solved with baked goods. 🥧🍎

And I have a BRAND-NEW hand-dipped incense scent ready today….Blazed and Confused!🔥🌲

It’s reminiscent of autumn nights around the fire, with smoky, earthy cedar and pine perfectly paired with hints of brown sugar and vanilla. Cozy, woodsy and just a little sweet. 🤎

I only have THREE bags available right now! The incense has been drying a little strangely lately, some batches finish right on schedule, while others decide they need a couple of extra days.

✨ Sunday night means it’s time for this week’s hours!

And since more and more new friends keep finding us, here’s a little about Soul Sanctuary Shop 💜

I’m a cozy little shop in Joliet filled with handcrafted wax melts, candles, room sprays, foaming hand soaps, incense that I personally hand-dip myself right here, shower steamers, car diffusers, home-care goodies, products from two other Midwest makers - (Spain Family Farm, LLC and The Naked Branch), self-care items, gifts and plenty of peaceful hippie vibes. ✌️☮️

And please trust me when I say this: when you walk through my door, I’ll greet you, introduce myself and let you know I’m available if you have any questions and then I’ll leave you alone. I will never follow you around the shop, hover over you or make you feel pressured to buy something. I personally hate feeling uncomfortable or watched while I’m shopping, so creating a peaceful, no-pressure experience for every person who visits is something I’m passionate about. Take your time, smell everything and look around in peace. 🌿

📚🔪Peace, Love & Plot Twists, anyone?

I keep thinking about starting a book club at Soul Sanctuary Shop, and the more I think about it, the more I want to do it.

I personally love psychological thrillers and suspenseful books. Freida McFadden is my absolute favorite author and I also love Colleen Hoover!

We choose a book, everyone gets about a month to read it, and then we meet at the shop for a relaxed evening of snacks, conversation, theories, suspicious characters, etc.

This would be a FREE monthly gathering, just a fun way to meet new people, motivate ourselves to read and build a little community around a love of psychological thrillers, suspense and twisty stories.

For our first gathering, no advance reading would be required. We’d meet one another, talk about the types of books we enjoy and vote on our first selection together.

And naturally, just like at an amusement park, you’ll exit the book club directly through the gift shop. No purchase required, but browsing and sniffing all the things will certainly be encouraged 😆

🍄 Have you met Sage, our meditating mushroom? 💜

We have quite a few new followers here, so I thought it was time to introduce her again!

Every morning I move Sage to a new hiding spot somewhere around the shop. It has become so much fun watching people come in and start looking for her! 👀 If you find Sage, you’ll receive a FREE 1-ounce wax melt with any purchase that day.

And don’t forget, she has some larger meditating mushroom cousins available for purchase, too. They are so cute 🍄

Soul Sanctuary Shop is more than home fragrance. You’ll also find a variety of wax melters, stress-relief coloring books, inspirational books, coffee mugs, journals, fun little treasures and our mini community library, where you’re always welcome to take a book or leave a book. 📚

Meet Grime Scene Cleanup, my brand-new all-purpose cleaner! 🧽🫧

I’ve done the testing, and I am so happy with it. It cleans beautifully, cuts through everyday dirt and grime, and leaves surfaces fresh, clean, streak-free and residue-free.

About the formula:

Okay, I know this is my second post this morning but I’m too excited not to share!!

My new zombie incense holder has arrived and I LOVE him! I wasn’t lying when I said I light up while drinking coffee in the morning ☕️

A huge thank-you to Jenn and Madi of Quinnfinite Possibilities for doing such an exceptional job guiding everyone through the craft. You two always make these evenings so welcoming, creative and enjoyable!

The incense has been timed! ⏱️

I lit one stick, started the stopwatch and let it run until the incense burned all the way down. One single stick lasted just over ONE HOUR!

Yesterday, a customer and I were talking about how relaxing it is to light incense. It has become a little ritual for me. In the morning, I’ll light one while I drink coffee, it helps settle my thoughts and set the tone for the day. At night, I’ll light a few more while I’m watching a show or winding down on my phone.

And it’s usually Mary Jane Lane. That one is my absolute favorite and my bestselling incense 💜

A gentleman with definite old-hippie energy came into the shop yesterday and asked if Mary Jane Lane smells like w**d. 😂 Nope! It’s Nag Champa, that familiar, earthy head-shop hippie scent. If you want your house to smell like w**d, you might as well just light up because that particular scent is difficult to recreate.

Anyway, each bag contains 10 sticks, so that’s approximately 10 hours of peaceful, beautifully scented relaxation for only $6.98.

Not a bad little investment for your peace of mind. ✌️
