The general rule is 24 inches of table space per person for comfortable seating. So a 6-foot table comfortably seats 6. An 8-foot table seats 8. Going smaller saves floor space but means tight elbows at every holiday dinner.

If your furniture is surrounding the rug instead of connecting to it, it's probably too small for the space. The front legs of your sofa and chairs should sit ON the rug to anchor everything together.

Thinking about an accent wall but not sure where to start? Here's the rule most designers use. 🎨

Pick the wall your eye naturally goes to when you walk into the room. Usually that's the wall directly across from the entrance, or the one behind your main furniture anchor like a bed or sofa. That's your accent wall.

Bold color, interesting texture, or even a statement light fixture can do the work from there. ✨
