Every item donated. Every purchase made. Every hour volunteered. It all helps support the mission of Family Crisis Center and the survivors and families served throughout our community.
As FCC celebrates 40 years of providing safety, support, advocacy and hope, we are especially grateful for every person who has supported that mission through Second Home Shoppe.
When you shop with us, donate to us or volunteer with us, you are part of something much bigger. 💜
Happy 40th Anniversary, Family Crisis Center! Here’s to continuing the mission together. 🛍️💜
💜 40 YEARS OF HOPE. 40 YEARS OF SAFETY. 40 YEARS OF STANDING WITH SURVIVORS. 💜
On October 3, 1986, an organization was officially incorporated with a mission to respond to domestic violence in Northeast Arkansas.
Today, Family Crisis Center celebrates 40 years.
There is something especially meaningful about this anniversary falling during Domestic Violence Awareness Month—the very month when communities across the country come together to bring attention to the issue that first brought a group of concerned individuals in our community together four decades ago.
What began in 1986 as the NEA Council on Family Violence, Inc. has grown and evolved alongside the needs of survivors and our community.
💜 1986: Established as NEA Council on Family Violence, Inc.
💜 1989: Direct services began with a part-time director
💜 1991: Funding allowed additional staff to be hired
💜 1993: Emergency shelter opened and services became available 24/7
💜 2004: Became Women’s Crisis Center of NEA, Inc.
💜 2014: Became Family Crisis Center, Inc.
💜 2017: R**e Crisis Center program established
💜 2022: Human trafficking services added
💜 2025: The R**e Crisis Center became the Sexual Assault Support Services Center and moved into its own stand-alone facility
Today, Family Crisis Center provides a 24/7 crisis hotline and emergency shelter, victim and legal advocacy, mental health therapy, sexual assault services and forensic exams, human trafficking services, financial and housing assistance, prevention and education, and connections to community resources across seven counties in Northeast Arkansas.
But our 40-year story cannot be told through a timeline alone.
It is written in every survivor who found safety.
Every child who had a safe place to sleep.
Every person who made the courageous decision to call our hotline.
Every advocate who answered that call.
Every volunteer, board member, donor, community partner and staff member who believed this work mattered.
And every person who, somewhere along these 40 years, decided that survivors in Northeast Arkansas deserved to know they were not alone.
Our name has changed. Our programs have grown. Our reach has expanded. The needs of survivors have evolved.
But the heart of our mission has remained the same.
For 40 years, when someone has needed safety, support, advocacy or simply someone to believe them, Family Crisis Center has been here.
As we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month and celebrate this milestone, we honor those who had the vision to begin this work in 1986, those who carried the mission through the decades, our community that continues to make this work possible and, most importantly, the survivors who have trusted us during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
40 years behind us. And a continued commitment to being here for every survivor who needs us in the years ahead. 💜
Here’s to the next chapter of safety, healing, empowerment and hope.
