Just did a small custom job for my Dad, needing a new sheath for his leatherman knife. And what could be more fitting for a leatherman sheath than actual leather? I drew up the design digitally by scratch, and after a lot of tweaking, I got it just the way I want it. I also added his name with my laser engraver as a fun detail.

Long time, no see! I've been busy with one of my newest acquisitions, my new laser engraver! I've been hard at it engraving all sorts of things, and was appalled at myself when I realized I hadn't uploaded any of it. So, apologies for the incoming load of photos/videos (apologies again for the quality. photography has never been my strong suit). I'm looking to expand this into an actual business venture, selling more-so the service than a product. I'll keep you posted about it, hopefully in the near future.

Geez Louise! It's been 2 years since I've posted here. Crazy!

Lately I've been getting back to my roots of the passion that became my career: Music. I've always wanted to lear to play the guitar and I've kinda been diving head first into it, and my crafts aren't falling behind, but rather supporting it.

I obtained my first electric guitar about a year ago.

This year, I found a guy who had some neglected nonfunctional bass guitars for $70 dollars. I couldn't resist. One was a Jr. Bass for child learners, or just those with smaller hands. The other was an unwilling fretless bass, as a previous owner ripped all of it's frets out and refilled them. Poor thing.

I was able to bring them back to life. The fretless actually needed a whole new body because it was too far gone, but I happened upon a scrap one from my local music store.

Then, I tried expanding the sounds and effects I could produce on my guitars and got myself pedals and had to find a way to organize them and make them more portable. So, again an opportunity to use one passion to support the other.

Some musicians were impressed enough with my little creation that they suggested that I try to make them for sale. So I made another one, 2.0. Hand made from materials around in the shop in search of a loving home ;).

The time has come! I have finished my first leather stock whip as instructed by Ron Edwards in his classic book "How to make whips". I really enjoyed this build and its unique challenges versus those of a paracord whip that I'm so used to building. Now I just need to finish out the set and make a leather bull whip and snake whip. Lol.

I had just learned that a game called "Tak" from one of my newest favorite books - "The Wise Man's Fear" by Patrick Rothfuss from the King Killer Chronicles - had been made a reality by the author. I couldn't help myself and set to making the game for myself.

I was inspired by others to make a hybrid board. You can play either a 5x5 game on the diamonds or a 6x6 game on the squares. I took to the classics when I made my capstones (the castle and bishop looking pieces).

I learned how to inlay wood as well when I was putting the diamonds in. They're hand chiseled out and then pressure fitted into their space.

If I could go back, I would've calibrated my mitre saw to exactly 90° and bought a new blade because it was REALLY dull.

All in all, I enjoyed this project and my family and I enjoyed playing it this Thanksgiving. There are videos on how to play this game on YouTube. It has very simple rules but complex strategies and endless fun.
