These headphones aren’t a distraction—they’re
Michael’s superpower. 🎧💪

Watching him climb with so much confidence today made my heart overflow! When the background noise gets a little too loud, slipping on his noise-canceling headphones blocks out the auditory overload so he can focus on what really matters: moving his body, building strength, and conquering new heights. 🧗‍♂️✨

A friendly reminder for anyone learning about the neurodiverse world: autism looks completely different for every single child.

Auditory Overload: Some autistic children experience intense sensitivity to sound, where echoey rooms, buzzing lights, or sudden noises feel overwhelming or physically painful.

Sound Seekers: Other autistic children are the exact opposite—they crave loud environments, hum, or seek out vibrant sounds to regulate.

No Noise Sensitivity: Many autistic kids have zero sensory challenges with noise at all!
Sensory processing is never one-size-fits-all. Meeting a child where they are and giving them the right tools—like noise-canceling headphones—isn't "giving in." It’s giving them equal access to explore, play, and thrive in their environment. 💙

So proud of you, Michael! Keep crushing it! 🌟

Happy Friday from Michaels Special Treasures . Silly faces for the win, always making us smile.

The plot twist behind yesterday’s DIY Robo-Ghost! 👻✨

We finally tracked down the original Sam's Club high-shelf ghosts that started it all! Last year they were completely sold out, which was a total heartbreak at the time—but it was actually the trigger that forced us to build our own robot version.

Watch Michael go! What looks like a cute dance party is actually a powerful tool for his nervous system.

Why do these "Happy Ghosts" work like sensory magic:

Relative Movement: Predictable, rhythmic visual motion gives the brain an anchor to track, which reduces anxiety and grounds the body.

Relative Sound: Constant, repetitive audio patterns help filter out unpredictable background noise that can feel overwhelming.

Soft Light: Gentle glow provides soothing visual stimulation without causing sensory overload.

When you hit that sweet spot of movement, sound, and light, it creates a total safe zone for sensory regulation. For Michael, it’s instant calm—and instant rhythm! 🕺

👇 Does your child (or you!) have a specific sensory item or routine that helps them regulate? Drop it in the comments—let’s swap ideas! 👇

Who needs a $300 animatronic when you have a robot vacuum, a bedsheet, and zero chill? 👻✨

It’s officially that time of year to unleash Happy Ghost! Michael lost his mind the second this little guy started roaming the living room. Proof that the simplest (and weirdest) DIY ideas bring the absolute most joy.

The "Happy Ghost" Build List:

🤖 1 Robo Vac (doing all the heavy lifting)
🪠 1 Toilet plunger (CRITICAL NOTE: Please buy a brand-new one 😭)
⚪ 1 Styrofoam ball stuck on the handle
👻 1 Old white bedsheet
💡 Fairy lights tucked underneath for the extra glow

Wait for the end to see Michael’s full victory dance—he’s been following it around like a personal hype man for an hour. 🕺

Accidentally ordered a size way too small for me, but Michael immediately claimed it as his new designer gown. 🤣👗

Honestly? I can’t even take it back. He pulled it right over his head and refused to let me touch it.

If you know sensory sensitivities, you know how rare this is. When you find clothing that doesn't scratch, pinch, or irritate, you don't care if it fits like a nightshirt—it's a massive win.

100% soft cotton, completely tagless, and zero sensory battles. Even if it hits his ankles!

Does your kiddo have an oversized comfort shirt they refuse to take off? Tell me I'm not the only dad running a low-key fashion show over here! 👇

🚨 FUTURE STREAMER ALERT! 🎮👇

Michael has been studying Minecraft pros on YouTube to learn all the secret mods, and today he turned to me and said, "Record me!" 😂

He got completely trapped by the Wither Storm in this clip, but listen closely to the audio—hear him say "Oh My Gosh!"?! 🗣️✨

We actually had to end his speech therapy last week because he just wasn't pairing well with his therapist... but seeing his speech and confidence blossom while playing a game he loves proves progress happens on his own terms!

How do you think his speech sounds here? Drop some love and encouragement for him in the comments! 👇💬

We might have to grab a proper we**am soon so y'all can see his reaction face and the game screen side-by-side next time.

🚀 THE AUTISTIC MIND DOESN’T THINK LESS. IT THINKS MORE. 🚀

Ever tried to run a supercomputer on standard operating software? It’s not a glitch; it’s just a completely different operating system. 💻✨

We often talk about autism in terms of "deficits," but if we actually look at how an autistic mind processes the world, it’s not broken—it’s fascinating. Let’s talk about the beautiful differences:

🧠 1. Intense World Theory
Where most brains have a filter that automatically turns down the background noise of life, an autistic brain takes it all in at 4K resolution with the volume turned up to 10. The sights, the sounds, the micro-details. It can be exhausting, yes—but it’s also a superpower of noticing the beauty others completely walk past.

🎯 2. Hyper-Focus & The "Deep Dive"
When an autistic mind is captivated by a topic, it doesn’t just learn it—it masterminds it. While the world loves a "jack of all trades," the neurodivergent mind brings the gift of the absolute specialist. The passion, the deep knowledge, and the unyielding curiosity drive the innovations the world actually needs.

❤️ 3. Justice & Unfiltered Authenticity
There is a profound, deeply felt sense of fairness, truth, and loyalty in the autistic community. Small talk and social games might feel like a foreign language, but deep, authentic connection? Absolute truth? That runs deep.

🔄 4. Patterns, Logic, and Innovation
An autistic mind doesn’t just see the puzzle pieces; it sees how they connect across entire rooms. It spots the loops, the missing links, and the patterns that others miss because it doesn't think outside the box—it doesn't even see the box.

Let’s stop trying to force beautiful, unique operating systems to run standard, boring software. The world doesn't need everyone to think the exact same way. It needs the innovators, the detail-keepers, and the deep-feelers. ♾️❤️

Drop a ♾️ if you love a brilliant neurodivergent mind, or tag someone who sees the world beautifully different! 👇

Advocacy doesn’t require a soapbox—sometimes, it just takes a t-shirt. 💙

We wore our matching 'Au Ti Sm' shirts to the park this morning. Our goal with these shirts was never about making money; it’s about starting real, meaningful conversations that educate people about the neurodivergent community.

While Michael was playing on the playground, a couple of grandparents watching their grandkids noticed our shirts. They knew the basic, stereotypical definition of Autism, but they didn't truly understand what it looks like in real life.

That opened the door for a great, honest conversation.

We talked about how Autism affects Michael specifically:

The sensory seeking: How he can spin endlessly on the playground without ever getting dizzy.

Processing time: Why I use the "6-second rule" with him, giving his brain the extra moments it needs to process questions and requests.

The spectrum: How every autistic child is completely unique.

Right as we were explaining that Autism presents differently for everyone, a train roared by in the distance. Michael froze, looked up with total joy, and shouted, "Da, do you hear the train?!"

It was a perfect, unscripted moment.

I’m so grateful for the opportunities we have as parents today to gently educate our communities, break down stereotypes, and build a more understanding world for our kids—one conversation at a time.
