Please share!!! Local traffic has been steadily dropping throughout the years. The local government keeps raising our taxes out of “desperation”. It’s a bandaid fix that will hover over us forever and haunt the future generations. This time, to find a way to maintain a 24hr ambulance service and buy new equipment vs the on-call county ambulance service that we currently have. We do need it but also already have 24 hr response.
The root of the problem. For years, we’ve been unable to steadily get the people to our area to support our local economy and sustain growth and infrastructure. If they raise our county’s sales tax by 1% (like they’re proposing to do), Julesburg’s sales tax will be higher than Denver and Boulder. Julesburg’s sales tax is already 8.2% and we don’t even have a police department (which we also really need!). We’re one of three (and the largest town) in our entire county. The nearest Colorado city to us is Sterling and their sales tax is 7%. They have all of the amenities a normal municipality should have. And with 7% sales tax rate. Sedgwick county is already ranked the 6th poorest county in the state! Going to be ironic when the sales tax revenue they collect next year is lower than what it was with a lower rate! High tax contributes to pushing people away from participating in our local economy! How is any of this sustainable long term? More taxes is not the true American way! We will NEVER see the government “lower” our taxes…even if things balanced out over time and they didn’t “need” that extra 1% anymore! 🇺🇸

Not in the national archives! Hardly seen before, American historical document!

Do we all know the history behind the Sons of Liberty? The ones who sparked the war with England to fight for our independence?!

This land purchase agreement is from James Sabin who was owner of “Sabin’s Tavern” where the sons of liberty first met and led the first blow in the American Revolutionary War by the colonists and was a major supporter of the American Revolution.

It is signed to John Hancock, one of the most prominent figures of the American Revolution. John Hancock served as President of the Second Continental Congress when the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4th, 1776. He was a major supporter of the revolution both politically as well as financially. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence as well as our articles of confederation. After the revolution he was governor of Massachusetts from 1780-1785 and again 1787-until his death in 1793.

The Sons of Liberty did not gather on just a single day. They first banded together on August 14, 1765 and continued to meet, protest, and organize across the American colonies for years, most notably staging the Boston Tea Party on December 16, 1773.

The Boston Tea Party was a political protest on December 16, 1773, where American colonists dumped 342 chests of tea into the ocean. The key elements were the Tea Act of 1773, the Sons of Liberty, and British taxation without representation.

This Document is from March 11th, 1773! Just months before the Boston Tea Party formed, proving that these American loving patriots and forefathers of our country were pi**ed off and in cahoots well before any of these historic events!

The document-
* Date: March 11, 1773.
* Grantor (seller)- James Sabin of Providence, Rhode Island, described as a merchant
* Grantee (buyer)- John Hancock of Boston, Suffolk County, Province of Massachusetts Bay
* Purchase price- Twenty pounds lawful money.
* Property- About 19 acres in Providence, referred to as part of the Abbot Farm
* Acknowledged and signed by Darius Sessions, Deputy Governor of Rhode Island, a well-known colonial official
*Dated-“In the year One Thousand and Seventy Three and in the Thirteenth year of the Kings Reign”

Notice how the document reads “John Hancock of Boston, in the County of Suffolk, in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay, Esquire”. The word “Esquire” is key here, as it’s how the historic John Hancock was regarded on the majority of his legal documents due to his residence, status and title at this time in history!

 Out treasure hunting! I will be opening at noon today. Tomorrow I will be closed but possibly opening later in the afternoon. No matter what day it is though, if you see my open flag up on the fire truck on the highway or the one in front of my store I am here!
