🍅🎬 There’s a Tiny Georgia Town Where You Can Eat Fried Green Tomatoes INSIDE the Famous Cafe From the Movie!
If you grew up loving Fried Green Tomatoes, there’s a little place in Juliette, Georgia, where the movie doesn’t feel quite so far away.
📍 The Whistle Stop Cafe isn’t a themed restaurant inspired by the movie. It’s the actual building used as the Whistle Stop Cafe in the 1991 film.
The story of the building goes back much further. Built in 1927, it originally operated as a general merchandise store for decades. After sitting unused for years, filmmakers discovered tiny Juliette and transformed the old building into one of the movie’s most recognizable locations.
After filming ended, instead of letting the set disappear, locals turned it into a real restaurant.
And yes... you can order the fried green tomatoes. 🍅
They’re thick-cut, battered until crispy and served with the cafe’s dipping sauce. You’ll also find Southern favorites like pulled pork BBQ, catfish, country fried steak, chicken tenders and even a burger topped with fried green tomatoes.
But eating here is only part of the fun.
🎬 Walk around tiny Juliette and you’ll discover other reminders of the movie, old storefronts and filming locations. The cafe itself still has that rustic, old-fashioned appearance, complete with wooden floors and movie memorabilia.
🚂 Then you might hear something coming.
An active railroad runs immediately behind the cafe, and passing freight trains can rumble right past while you're eating.
That somehow makes the whole experience even better.
