While we may have hit record highs today, on this day in 2006 we had enough snow to build snowmen! My son and I made these snowy friends together. It’s fun to look back at this memory—and hard to believe how different the weather was! ☃️

Did you know you can get TWO seasons of color from pansies? 🌼

Plant pansies this fall and enjoy their cheerful blooms now. Once winter arrives, they may take a little break—but their cold tolerance helps them survive and return with another beautiful show in early spring.

In fact, fall-planted pansies can provide fresh color before many of your spring bulbs begin blooming! Plant them over or around tulips, daffodils and other bulbs for layers of color as your garden wakes up.

For the best results, plant them in well-drained soil, water them thoroughly and give their roots time to settle in before the ground freezes.

🪴 It's time to bring in your plants!

With overnight lows dipping into the 30s on Monday and Tuesday, it’s time to bring your vacationing houseplants back inside. Don’t wait for frost—many tropical houseplants can suffer damage when temperatures fall below 50°F.

Before bringing them in:

🍃 Check leaves, stems and soil for unwanted hitchhikers
🚿 Give the plants a gentle rinse
✂️ Remove dead or damaged foliage
🏠 Place them away from cold drafts indoors

What an incredible season for The Giving Garden—more than 7,565 pounds of fresh produce grown for our community! 🌱🥔🍅

Wenke Greenhouses is honored to have donated some of the plants that helped make this amazing harvest possible. We love seeing those plants grow into something that provides fresh, healthy food for so many local families.
